Takes awhile for the FD to start...

There is fuel always on the spark plugs(ngk's) and they are always black. I have to replace them about every month. Now more recently I have to do the de-flooding trick to get the car started. It smokes for a while(smells like gas) but then it drives perfectly.... and fast. Any ideas? I also looked at the blockweld fix action... which I guess might work since the car isnt totally dead. Thanks!

what ECU are you using? If it's an aftermarket ECU is it tuned? The blockweld fix is for coolant ring failure. Is your car consuming coolant or showing signs of a bad coolant seal?

Sounds more like a leaking injector to me.... but i'm sure someone with more experience will chime in.

Yah, sounds like you're pushing way too much fuel. List your mods please.

I am having the same long start due to too rich conditions. However, I am getting my car tuned(dyno tune have PFC ecu) and hopefully that will stop it.

Don't do the blockweld unless you're positive you have a coolant problem. You may have a leaking injector. (Leaking into the block, rather than ontop of it)

I was always under the impression that a leaking injector would also cause a higher than average idle and other symptoms?

Mods are Apexi intake, downpipe, and midpipe with magnaflow hi flow cat. I changed the plugs again today... smelled like fuel like usual. I do know my alternator is going on second battery just from last night lol.

My leaking injector caused hard starting, rough idle (paint-shaker rough), and since it was a secondary it would buck anywhere from 0psi to 8psi at higher RPMs.

I'm not sure whether the idle was higher because during my troubleshooting I never ran it long enough to get out of warmup stage.

How many miles are on your injectors, or when last have they been cleaned? If they are dirty, they may not be closing properly...you can also have them pressure tested to be positive.

we used the injector cleaner and stuff but nothing professional... thanks for the info guys hope it works!

EDIT: Also I guess it could be injectors because if we let it idle for awhile before we turn of for the night... it seems to start up right away.
