hey Paul, what can i say.... i like to weld. i happen to have some 1/2 inch stainless plate lying around along w some chrome moly tubing. and i know a great idea when i see it. i do plan to use a foundation plates between the tubing and the subframe to spread the load a bit.
o k, i owe you an idea. feel free to pm me on anything and i will do my best.

I spent some time searching the web for more info and it looks very promising. Ideally, I would like to find a gearbox that measures 26.4" from where the bell housing mates up to the motor to the center of the shifter mount. I think I could get pretty close to that with the design of the 6060 tail section in the photo posted above. I recall seeing a T56 with a similar tail section a few years ago, so I'm not sure that is one of the things that differentiates the TR-6060 from the T-56
The gear ratios seem good too. In comparison to stock:
1st: 117%
2nd:113%
3rd: 107%
4th: 100%
5th: 90%
6th: 75mph @ 2,625 rpms with a 4.1 axle ratio and 16x225 50 tires
For those of you that are still thinking about using a transaxle I found a few photos in my archive:
Not exactly petite
I had a transmission shop take the measurements listed below, so I can’t vouch for the accuracy, but a second shop did confirm them.
Measuring from the back of the car 25" puts the front of gearbox where the rear aluminum chassis brace is located.
This is approximately where that point is inside the car with the seats moved all the way back.
Obviously the tunnel flares out near the floor of the chassis, but not enough! Also notice how far forward the gearbox extends. Based on this I concluded it was not worth doing the swap (if it is even possible) since the weight shift from front to back wouldn't be too significant.

Good info Chris. I should have saved a link for the price info, but I saw that 10k figure estimated in two different forum discussions related to the GT500 before its release, which ofcourse means nothing. I think scarcity may be at play temporarily and ofcourse it would cost you twice as much to buy parts to build a car than to buy one preassemled. 10k seems a tad high bt i wouldn´t be too surpised with something so new. we´ll just have to call the SVT stealership and see what they say.
From what I gather, Tremec has completely revamped the t56 and added the 6060 to the line-up. both will be used for various high output OEM applications.
