Super n00b question here

im 6'4" and 340lbs and i fit *good* a smaller steering wheel would be nice but it isnt required. my left knee is pinned between the door a bit.
as for getting in and out, an FD if far easier that an FB and about the same as an FC IMO.
it will feel odd at first, but you will get used to it and the car is definately worth losing weight for!

I'm not tree-fitty dude, although I'm close. If I can drive an s2000, would that be somewhat like what you're talking about with having no leg room from the steering wheel, etc.? Its a tight fit but I can still drive that fine just with a little bit less comfort than I'd like.

GUYS GUYS GUYS! This guy is asking if he can fit! Not for tips that he can get from Jenny Craig or Richard Simons lol. But dude.... I'm with them on your size... even though im basically 1/3 your weight, I REALLY think you're gonna have some issues. Did you do what i suggested? Find a friend or someone on the forum that lives near you and ask if you can sit in their FD?

I was actually surprised at how much room there was in the wrx so I'm hoping that the FD has a decent amount of room for the driver like my STi does.
Sorry for the dumbass n00b question.

you'll probably fit in the FD. FD's don't have tilt wheels though, and i've always found that the steering wheel is more forward than i'd like for the length of my legs.
i fit in the FD decently, but having driven it from florida to massachusetts and back, i'd have to recoment against long drives. the side bolsters in the FD are more compliant than the STi. and because you are so low in the FD, it doesn't matter as much since you have no where to slide to being as big.
i'd venture to say that because of the compliance of the FD seat, it fits me much better, though it's a bit like a weight bench, not a bed. however, i'd rather the STi for a long drive.
i'd really recommend against selling the STi for a 12 year old FD that books for ~10k.

Honestly man, if finances are an issue now, I'm telling you how it is, you ain't seen NOTHING yet. FD's are a SERIOUS money pit. I'm talking about in the thousands, easy - and that's whether you want to or not. If you're strugglin w/ an STi, you simply won't be able to afford an FD. Really.

For me, in the FD, I have the seat pushed back on the rail to the 2nd to last click, and the seat back reclined so it's literally touching the bins. I feel pretty comfortable, but I'm practically using all the room available in the car. That's w/ an aftermarket 350mm steering wheel tho.

This Is a little off the topic, I don't own an rx7 but what is the difference between FD, FC, FM or any other f_ that they sell, And what type of problems do they have a lot of the times. I'm really thinking about getting one. I love the way that they look but i don't know if all of the mechanical hassels would be worth it.

FC = 2nd Gen
FD = 3rd Gen
Search for the rest of you're questions, they are answered on an hourly basis as it is.

So did this guy sit in it yet for sampling, or not? I agree with all of you regarding the financial part. You are better off in an STI but I still love my FD. I've been lucky to not spend too much on it (yet)... knock on wood.

(Heck, I still can't afford it from doing it the first time! )
We should probably give this guy the benefit of the doubt since there is a large price difference between an STI and a RX-7.

yep. money pit. nothing is cheap on this car. if that is what you are in for. you will spend a lot of money on this car if you choose to "keep" it nice or do anything to it. It is worth it when you drive one of the baddest japanese sports car on the planet. respect comes, envy comes, and you will enjoy every time you drive it. period. I got one of the cleanest ones out that was in show room condition with maintenence records out the ***. evry problem addressed and religously serviced, with 39,000. original miles on it. I have already spent at least 4000.00 on it already- upgrades and fixes. not even close to done. that is just to make it bulletproof (if there is such a thing) and doing most of the work myself. just know what you are getting at and be prepared as I was to deal with it with a smile and it will be worth it.

If you can fit in the car, but the seats are uncomfortable.... then maybe you might be able to get one and mod the seat?
But.. if you're cramping up all over the place with the steering wheel all up in your nut sack.. maybe it won't be a good fit.. anyway.. check out other seats if that becomes an issue..
