Super n00b question here
I'm selling the STi and looking for a new car and I've been interested in FD's for a while now but now that I've actually got the chance to own one I have a really simple question. I'm 6'1 and roughly 335 lbs., will I or will I not be able to comfortably drive/fit in an FD? I was actually surprised at how much room there was in the wrx so I'm hoping that the FD has a decent amount of room for the driver like my STi does.
Sorry for the dumbass n00b question.

yah at 335 lbs..u might have quite the problem. The seats in the car are made for a 36" waist at the max... i'm 6'0 180lbs and its a comfortable snug fit. I have lots of room to recline but i don't think u'd be very comfortable in the seat.

im 6'3" and 250lbs. i dont have the sunroof so headroom is not a problem. the seat on the other hand is a big problem. my *** cheeks (nice mental image eh?) sit on the side bolsters so its not exactly a comfortable fit for long drives. I have found though that if i fold up a towel and place it in the center of the seat it makes it much more bareable.
To make matters worse it seems that the fd has a narrow seat area so fitting wider seats can be a problem. On that note, does anybody know if the corbeau A4 wide will fit in an FD?
Im afraid you may have a problem with the fit - especially if its a daily driver. Good luck

With a fixed steering wheel and a small area for seats, I wouldn't consider it comfortable by any means. Some of the people here may be able to do it with their height, but they are also missing one to two hundred pounds. But you could always try sitting in one first, because we're all a bit different shaped.

Why not just stick with an STI? Any specific reason? For those of you that think I'm putting down an FD I'm not. I own one myself and despite its cons, I enjoy having it. But anyway, I hope you know your knowledge on FD's before getting one. And for your size, I know alot of guys that are 6'0 and higher that own FD's. I'm 5'3" and 140 lbs. so maybe anyone 6 inches taller than me is considered 6'0 from where I'm standing lol, but since you weigh 335 lbs, that will probably be an issue. Maybe you should find someone on the forum that lives near you or someone you know that has an FD and ask them if you can just meet up with them and sit in their car. That will give you an idea of having a future FD.

You're a big guy, no doubt about it. Your proportions will make/break if you fit in one. The size of your midsection and fit on the seat will be tricky, and depending on the thickness of your legs you may find the steering wheel to pin down your leg.
Getting in and out will also be very tough - I'm 6'1 and use my skinny frame to squeeze in and out of the doors when I don't have room to open the door all the way. And this happens often.
There is only one answer: take one for a test drive. All FDs have the same seat/wheel geometry unless the steering wheel is changed for aftermarket.
