street ported engine set at what idle speed?
What do you guys with street ported engines set your idle speed at?
I have a couple of friends that set around 600 rpm. Sounds kinda mean but is this ok on our engines?
I thought 750 was the normal and 850 for street ported engines...

I also have a Petit ECU in it which does some funky stuff to it. I think the warm up cycle has an idle RPM and when it's warmed up. I would think an idle too low could bog/hesitate. Often, mechanics will bump up the idle to hide other problems (vacuum leaks, etc).
I love the lumpy sound of my rotary when it's just under 1K. It sounds like it has a big cam in it : )

I have my idle set around 900-950 or so. Mine seems to idle fine there but it gets a bit lumpy if I turn it much lower. I pull about 400 mmMg or so at idle and from what I hear that is about right for a healthy, mildly streetported motor. I can see if your motor is a bit older or you have a more radical port you would have to bump your idle up so the engine won't stall.
