Stolen RX7 Wont start... worth fixing?
Just bought a 3rd gen 93 model Rx7 from a dealer, the problem is the car was a theft recovery and it wont start, the first day i got it would turn over but still wouldn't fire...yesterday i tried to start it again but it would only click, i put a jumper pack on it and still nothing(oil is good) , i really don't know much about rotaries and neither do of my friends so any help would be appreciated
here are some pictures of the interior and the engine bay and the interior...
paid almost $6200

Arent you the guy on Bimmerforums that parts out m3s? Name looks familiar.
I am over in Knoxville and I buy and sell these for a living. If the title is salvage or theft recovery I hate to tell you but you paid too much.
It looks to have some nice parts on it. At this point your best bet would be to part it.
Seats and carpet are worth near $1k on their own.
When you tried to jump start it, did you let the battery charge a long time? Did you rev up the other vehicle as you tried to jump start it?
Sounds like the battery is just completley drained. If you are interested in getting it running you could just bring it up to me and Knoxville, however, I assume you bought it just to buy and resell?
Good luck.

I would also suggest downloading the FSM (Factory Service Manual):

You are going to need it....

I guess I should suggest what to try if you plan to try to get it to run.
I say change the spark plugs($24.00) New battery($65.00) Do a compression test while the spark plugs are out(free if you have a compression tester) If compression comes back ok, change oil, make sure coolant is topped off, test for fuel leaks then start the car. These are all simple tasks that can be done in an hour.
The compression test should tell you the most.

Just to make sure it can turn over, take a 1/2 inch drive ratchet and 19mm socket and turn it over clockwise by hand. If it is able to turn over then it is just likely an issue of the battery being too drained to power the starter.
If for some reason you need a starter I have several laying around. $35.00 Shipped.

let's just hope it was a real theft recovery and not an insurance job because the guy before blew his motor and cashed in on the insurance company. The way the interior is ripped up didn't make sense from a theft stand point and the fact that you have vac lines disconnected and belts partially off the pully means someone at one time or another started to rip into it (possibly the previous owner attempting to get it started or the dealer trying to get it started) Your best bet is charge up your battery or swap it out with a good battery and do a compression so you know whether it will be a couple of hundred dollars bolt on replacement parts fix or if you will need in addition a couple of thousand for a motor.

wow... i see so much unpluged things.. like the vacuum hose connect to the pressure chamber.. im not sure about the ac compressor but i think it needs a filter or something.. of course you could see the loose/off looking belt.. and man everything else looks good.. well except for the interior.. but what you paid for is too much.. good luck!
