Sr motorsports smic??

Hello everyone. I can't seem to find any info on this intercooler...

Mazda RX7 3RD Generation Intercoolers Kits Mazda RX-7 FD3S.

I want a drop in unit (for now) and this is supposed to be just that...
The only thing is it doesn't come with a duct and it looks like it is all end tank....
I know it would be a big improvement over stock , and they have it in stock, but I want to get the best drop in avail....

I was also considering the PFS medium smic, or Greddy smic.....

I don't plan on more than 300whp for some time so a good smic should do.....

Any experienced insight greatly appreciated.

Thanks.

IMO, there is no reason to go with that unit when you can get the other units for cheaper. You'll lose money buying that SR kit because it will have poor resale value. If you buy a greddy/trust SMIC, you will probably be able to sell it for as much as you bought it and you will have better performance. The Greddy isn't a true drop in but you should be able to get everything you need for the install for a great price.

Okay. Don't flame me. I know eBay sells alot of junk, but for $200 I've been thinking maybe I could make a v-mount work.... This seller claims to have sold over 70 of this kit with no complaints.... Probly not worth the time. I'll probly end up buying a new greddy smic, but $1,200!!!, or I'll re-locate the batt and go PR cool charge. I just don't want to hack up an all original 29k mile car.... It will hurt resale.

Anything SR motorsports is usually just rebranded product. That company pulled a lot of shady **** back in the day, who knows what they are up to now. I think there are reputable companies here on the forum offering V-Mounts for around $1000.00. Also you can get the Greddy FMIC Knock off kits on ebay(ran several of them and they work great) for around $300.00 with everything you need to install. You can also find plenty of ICs in the Forsale section. I have 3 different ones I am selling if you are considering going the used route. Its and IC, as long as it doesnt have holes in it you are pretty good to go. Some cores and kits are of higher quality, about anything(with decent ducting) is an improvement over the stock IC.

You will need a lot more than that to create a vmount setup. If you want to go cheap then buy a used core and duct SMIC from the forum.

Edit. DJ beat me to it. Just buy one from him lol.

Crap!! I just bought the SR cold air intake this morning... I hope it's not a POS. Its the only one I could find that looked like the M2 that is nla......

Pettit was trying to sell me their intake but I read its a rip-off so I declined.

Ok... Looks like the ebay unit is just like the XS-power smic people have used...
I guess it is ok if you use a duct like Pettit's with it...? I just want to get the most effective intercooler without having to move the battery, or make irreversable changes to this car right now....

Maybe I'll try out the cheapy smic with the pettit duct... I just don't like doing things 2-3 times...
Been there done that. With my Z32tt I went through 3 sets of test pipes before spending a lot on some from stillen that still didn't fit well.

Send it back and buy a used M2 in the for sale section for HALF the price!

You can get a Medium M2 and a M2 intake for around $1k used. If you insist on getting an eBay smic Pettit ducts are currently on sale!!!

that intake is the same (performance wise) as the M2 and it's quite legit. Just rather pricey

Oh ok. Yeah I felt kinda sick spending $600 on an intake.. As long as it fits ok I'll be happy. I've just had a lot of bad experiences buying used parts, but with these cars you almost have to I guess.....

I almost bought their SMIC too before doing some research. I emailed PFS about their medium and never even got a response where as SR got right back to me...

I guess I always want instant gratification.... I read through quite a few listings only to find 'sold' at the bottom....

Their is a member that may have a nice SMIC to sell.... Fingers crossed....

I have the SR motorsports Air Intake and SMIC - they are still working great after 10+ years. The M2 Medium does get you a bigger intercooler, which shouldn't be all bad.
