Spirit R floor mats

would the spirit r floor mats fit into american lhd fds? or would jdm rhd fds have totally different floor mat in which it would be the inverse of lhd fds?

They will fit, the floorpan is the same, it is the wirewall that differs.

What? They will NOT fit. The floor mats are NOT symmetrical.

If the floor pan is the same why wouldn't they fit?

The drivers side (JDM) would be the pass side here.

j-spec mats fit the US passenger side perfectly.

j-spec mats fit the US driver's side fine except for one slight issue: the dead pedal!!

The j-spec mats do not have a little cut-out that allows it fit properly on the US driver's side. Not a huge deal - any upholstry shop could cut the j-spec mat and re embroider the edge for you.

Some JDM floormats I've seen had the heel mat on (our) passenger side. If the mats don't have heel mats, that would look/fit/work a lot better.

what is a "heel mat"? also do the spirit r mats have that little hole on lefthand driver side so it can connect to the metal hook?

OK, correction. They won't line up with the dead pedal or have the opening for the hook on the driver's side.

Personally, I don't get what the attraction to them would be......

Mazdatrix and rx7.com sells them for around 60 bucks. No RX-7 though. You could get an embroidery shop to stich it in. Or you could try this place:

I wish I remember the place I used to pick up from when I worked at Beverly Hills Motoring. They were in Reseda, CA and made the cutom mats even the sheepskin floor mats for the Ferrari's. Anyhow RX7.com sells plain ones and Pettit sells them with both RX7 & Pettit logos together.

The one that I bought at mazdatrix (without the rx7 embriodered on it) I think has a better quality than the regular OEM floormats.... meaning they are more better!!!! So don't worry about getting spirit R's because they are not worth it!!!

hehe .. "more better" .. really i heard the ones at mazdatrix were bad .. and they wear down really quickly .. plus the bottom seems to have those rubber spike things instead of the foamy bottom that the oem floor mats have .. do those rubber spikes wear down the cars carpet?

Yeah it seemed that my factory carpet wore out some after I switched to the Mazdatrix (Lloyd) mats. Quality-wise, the OEM mats seem far superior.

yeah it seems the foam is less abrasive on the factory carpet .. getting floor matts that eat away at the carpet sorta defeats the purpose of having mats in the first place .. just my opinion

I haven't seen the Mazdatrix mats, but personally I would prefer the "spiked" mats to the foam. They don't slip and IMO, you'd have to be trying to make them wear-out the carpet underneath. Most quality OEM mats are now like this. If it's not sliding around, it's not abrasive. I'm sick of vacuuming up the old dried foam. If I bought replacements, I'd insist on the spiked backing.

actually all of your high end cars have foam backing. Our BMW has foam mats, same with my neighbor's Merc.

If the carpet mats are thick, and have the holes for the prongs by the seats, they are not going to slip around. Spikes or foam makes no difference.

If you get the JDM mats, you should have JDM stitched on them. That way everyone will know how important "labels" are to you.

See, the JDM ones, unlike US spec, are made of a special composite material that naturally places the heel in the most responsive position, thus enhancing the driver's ability to sHiFt MaDd FaSt Yo!

but seriously .. some of us are in love with the spirit r's .. maybe some of us strive to make our cars look as much as the spirit r's as possible .. whats wrong with that? and thats funny how you say "labels" are important to me when you know jack **** bout me .. and from such an ignorant statement .. it shows how much you know . and dont try to reply by saying .. "well uhm .. if it werent true .. then you wouldnt take offense to it" .. i do take offense cause youre just putting your ignorant words in my mouth
