sparco wheel install....?
well i decided to put in a nice sparco steering wheel into my fd , and also wanted to lose the airbag. but... along the way i see that the clock spring has a plastic harness together with it that wont let the hub fit correctly. i guess i have the option to remove it, but doesnt that control the cancelation of the signals after you turn? i would rather not lose that option. please let me know if there is any way to keep the clock spring set up. btw here is the sight i checked out for the steering wheel replacement, that told me to remove the clock spring. thanks in advance.

I believe you remove the clockspring if you don't need the horn or cruise.. But I could be wrong about this.. On my other FD, I have sparco steering wheel.. I'm thinking about taking it out and sell it.. so, when I do, I'll check for ya..

I just did this with a sparco mugello. i used a hub from here: http://www.finishlineperformance.com...tion&key=I1088
It is an early Miata hub and disables the airbag light while providing plug and play wiring for the horns and turn signal lights still work normally. Fits perfectly and easy to install. Took about 20 minutes start to finish. You can search the interior section for someone else's writeup on that hub as well. That is where I the tip from.
I like the Mugello wheel as I now have enough room so that my thigh isn't up against the wheel when I'm heel-toe downshifting, but I do wish the wheel was a little thicker. I have long fingers and a thicker wheel would work better for me.
The Sparco Mugello works pretty well in terms of gauge visibility. It covers the chrome ring around the tach, but doesn't cover any of the numbers on the tach or anything.
Hope that helps.
