Smile Some good pics of my Defi Gauge/Techedge Wideband interior setup

Here are some better pics, both at night and during the day. I really like the gauges alot---I went with the Link II (vs the BF) because I wanted to have boost in psi in a 60mm gauge. I really like the placement of the gauges and wideband box, b/c I can easily see them at all times while taking my eyes off of the road for a minimal amount of time. Also, having a clean a-pillar free of gauges makes for a more pleasurable driving experience .

a shot from further back. you can see the placement of the control box and also the yummy titanium voodoo shift **** that Gordon Monsen used to run in his old FD.

Arrow

three more interior shots. You can see the nice new shifter surround piece and also the new HVAC piece---my old ones were in pretty bad shape.

btw, the leather shifter boot was purchased from Maciek back in early 2001 and (with periodic cleaning) still looks like a million bucks

Here you can see the armrest/coinholder from the japanese FD that I purchased from my friends Chris and Ari over at www.rx7.com. It was an ebay impulse purchase back when I was deployed overseas to Baghdad, but it really makes for a more comfortable driving experience .

another shot from a different angle. Believe it or not those R1 seats have over 110,000 miles on them!

Looking good, Rich! The Defis were just made to go in Frank's pods weren't they?

Like a Doberman going into a toy poodle! Trust me, it took a lot of coaxing to get them to fit.

looks great Rich... always nice to see folks who take care of their FD's. Very nice interior. I also just got my armrest/coinholder... there's no dent in it yet like you have on yours. That just means you're really shifting!!!

Really? My Defi Link 52mm gauges dropped right in with no issues whatsoever. Perhaps a problem limited to the 60mm size?

I can always count on my trusty partner-in-FD-crime Christoff to chime in

Tyler, the gauges were a bit of a bitch to get into the pods. To all attempting this install in the future, I recommend inspecting the inner diameter of the pod for any casting flash and also to look for the small retainer rivet heads that may be poking up a bit.....sanding all of that smooth and flush will make for a much easier install .

Rich, it looks great, albeit a little too busy for my taste. But I'm sure it's extremely functional.

Once quick comment: I noticed that it looks like you use a radar detector mounted high in the windshield, with the cord strecthing to the cig lighter. From the looks of the cord, it appears that you're running an Escort 8500 or something similar (correct me if I'm wrong). Most of those use a standard telephone cord connection. I would recommend that you purchase a telephone extension, and run it under the head liner, down the passenger a-pillar, and underneath the dash. It'll provide for a much cleaner install without the cord getting in your way. Just my $0.02

Hi Rob,

I agree with you----it is a bit busy, but very functional. As we all know, with a highly tuned turbo rotary all of that is necessary (diagnostics).

Re: the detector mounting, it is on my list of things to do. My father did exactly what you describe in his R1 with his V1 detector, and I will follow suit eventually .

Translation of Damon's post: Man Rich your FD looks nice. I wish you'd come back out to Texas so I can use your AAA Flatbed again

I had the same experience. I guess the Defi 52mm's could use a dose or two of Enzyte.

Rich, how many attachment spring-clips did your pod come with? Mine has 2, but I thought I saw one with 4 not too long ago. And by the way: , you big showoff.
