Single Turbo Scam on Ebay?
Ok - last night I bid on a single turbo FD kit - pic shows downpipe, turbo, everything - from a seller called Singleturbo7.com.
My last bid was $1050, the winner one hour later got the kit for about $1700.
So today I get what appears to be a "second chance" offer to sell the kit to me for $1050 (my last bid).

In compliance with eBay policy, the seller of that item is making this Second Chance Offer to you at your bid price of US $1,050.00 The seller has issued this Second Chance Offer because either the winning bidder was unable to complete the transaction or the seller has duplicate items for sale. If you accept this offer, you will be able to exchange Feedback with the seller and will be eligible for eBay services associated with a transaction, such as fraud protection. To purchase this item contact the seller at following informations: -eBay user ID......... -full name and address....... -Item#......... To learn more about Second Chance Offer go to:http://pages.ebay.com/help/sell/personal_offer.html eBay , Inc Thank you<<
It looks like official Ebay mail - but it came from vacuta6@yahoo.com. THERE WERE A LEAST THREE OTHER BIDDERS HIGHER THAN ME - so why do I get it??
IS THIS A SCAM?? Or does this guy really have a warehouse full of these kits??
I seem to remember a similar post by Kevin (Rotary Resurrection) on some bling bling wheels for his Slade - he was being scammed by a guy that hijacked the ebay ad.
I haven't replied yet - what to do??

Hard to say. Many times the people that sell that stuff on Ebay have TONS of the kits available, and just sell them off one by one.
If you're uncomfortable with it, I'd directly e-mail the seller and get a phone number or something - talk to them about it. If they have good feedback, and you know it's from the seller, use Paypal with a credit card to pay for it. That way you have some way to back up if things go awry.
But, I think it's just a case of they sell TONS of kits, and basically use Ebay for the advertising. Especially with a userid like that.

He answered me over on the Gen Auto Thread - someone hijacked his ad - all bidders got emails just like mine...
BEWARE OF EBAY
now the question is - how do we mess with the SCAMMER?

First off, this is a common thing going around ebay. I bid on teh same kit, and got the same message today. It does NOT originate from the actual seller of the kit, even though it appears that it might have.
Once an auction ends, it is "public record" so to speak on ebay, and anyone can click "bid history" on the auction and get the usernames and bid amounts on that auction.
Then, you get an authentic ebay second chance offer email, copy and paste the headers into your own, and write you message. And you direct all correspondence to yourself rather than the first seller, and most people wont even notice.
I did some research on this ****** earlier today, and he's apparently from singapore or taiwan...he has 2 or more throwaway accounts made up to scam with from what I can tell. Just don't send out any money and you'll be fine...other than that, say whatever you like to him.
