I don't think it is a official "Signal" product.
I'm friends w/ the owner of that car. He had his car serviced by the guys at Signal Auto. The owner purchased that piece from FEED. The Signal sticker may be on there for "decorational" purposes.

No it's not Turbo'd
That's what I meant, it's the factory UIM, with a fancy piece of "plastic" / CF on top to make it look cool, but it's unlikely that you could make one (replacement) by hand as precise as to be able to mount the secondary butterfly valves on there, not to mention the nipples for the BOV, and Boost gauge .... It'd be tough.....
so it's purely decoration... and any fibre shop should be able to make one (cover) fairly easily, since they have the mold allready with the UIM...

After all one has enough people in this thread wanting to get it, which should indicate atleast some market for pointless cosmetic performance fallacies (as if we didn't already know it existed).

I can import those from Japan. You are looking at $250 each. Shipping within the US should be around $15-20.
Email me at rotaryextreme@aol.com if you would like to purchase one. Thank you.

If anything this would actually hurt performance. Couldn't it hold in extra heat and not allow the intake to cool properly. It may not make much difference, but it definitely wont HELP.

There is no advantage to this. Even from a heat rejection standpoint. Anyone who buys it might as well spend 250$ on fog lights and muffler tips.
If you want the real deal, you make your own custom surge tank from carbon fibre and aluminum.

At my old shop, I helped make a CF cover for the engine bay of a Shelby Series 1. Obviously its just for looks and the bling factor.
I have been thinking about making one for my FD but have kept wondering about the heat issue. It looked amazing on the Series 1.
Here is a pic of a Shelby Series 1 engine bay, We made the black piece that covers the intake manifold out of CF.
We first scanned the engine bay into CAD and then milled a tool out of clay. Then layed CF on the tool and out it came. I wish I had some pics. The same could be done for the FD but it costs a lot of money for the scanning, CAD work and to use the mill for the parts.
Here is a pic of a Series 1 if you have never seen one. It is an amazing car. The owner used his just for track purposes. Pulls over a 1.01g in the corners and has over 500hp with the supercharger. It sounded like a monster.

The price probably isn't going to be a lot cheaper even with group buy. The price on that piece is 19,800 Yen and with the current crapy exchange rate, it's already about $200 without shipping. Plus shipping from Japan to here, I probably make like $20 on each piece. So pretty much the saving you get is only on shipping when I get a bunch of them shipped here at the same time. So you are looking at $20 bucks saving at most if we get 10 buyers on it. I am not really offering to import it to make big money. People are interested so I thought I could help.
If other shops can import them cheaper, they are more than welcome to do so.
