"Show Car" Insurance: Recommendations?
I know their are a lot of members on this forum with some very expensive RX-7's, myself included. I just wanted to know what type of insurance you guys have and whether your insurance company will cover your mods.
Specifically, I'm looking to register my car as a "show car", for COMPLETE coverage purposes as well as no emissions. I wanted to know if anyone has their RX-7 or even other car/s registered under this title, what insurance company did you go with? Any inputs appreciated.

Yah I actually read several pages of that thread, but it seemed to be directed more toward insurance companies covering mods, not exactly show car insurance. In any case, I'll read through that thread again and update whether it was discussed or not.

^ Thanks man! Those were some awesome writeups. I believe the value on my car (car included) is right around $70,000 and ideally that's what I'm looking to get it insured for. I have almost all my receipts and the fact that labor is covered is a HUGE plus. If you don't mind I wanted to ask you a few questions:
1- What company, if you have already, in the end did you decide to go with, Haggerty or Grundy?
2- I read your detailed writeup regarding Haggerty's qualification and coverage, but is this similar to Grundy's as well? In particular, does Grundy's also cover Labor, and manufacturers retail price of parts?
3- For either of these insurance companies do you have to have the daily driver insured with them or simply show proof of insurance on a daily driver?
4- Are multiple drivers covered under either insurance plan or is it simply the policy holder?
5- In regards to "porting" the motor, will this drop me from show car insurance? If so, is it just a better idea not to state this on the policy? I'm currently on stock ports, but this is a very near future mod.
6- Finally, after all things considered Grundy seems like the way to go. Any reasons to suggest otherwise?
I know your a consumer just like myself and possibly don't have all these answers, but really any helps appreciated.
Thanks.

1) I got rejected from Haggerty, b/c I listed a family member w/ a reckless driving ticket, and I had one too many speeding tickets at the time (they go back 5 years). They've since dropped, so I'll prob try again in January, when I'm 25, at which point I'll qualify for Grundy too (min. age is 25).
2) Yes, Grundy covers total value as well.
3) You must have a daily driver less than 15 years old (so my FB won't work) that is insured with a diff carrier.
4) I would recommend against multiple drivers. The more drivers you list, the higher your chance of rejection. It's hard enough to get accepted for yourself
5) I honestly am not sure. Porting a motor will drop you from most regular insurance companies, but seeing that these speciality insurance companies do cover engine mods, I'd think they'd cover it w/o a problem - so long as they feel confident you're not racing the vehicle.
6) Go with whoever takes you Grundy's only advantage is that there are no stated mileage restrictions. But you gotta be 25 for them to take you (or at least that's what their website USED to say). Haggerty is a larger and more well-known company (Grundy's it's biggest competitor), and the mileage restrictions aren't written in stone; you can authorize additional miles for show use only etc. Again, go w/ whoever takes you

Thanks again, Ramy! I went ahead and ordered a copy of my driving record to be sure I don't have any major infractions. Other than that, I think I should qualify, but I'll wait and see. Anyways, I'm going to be emailing you sometime today regarding some parts and I have a few added questions that I'll leave for the email as well.

The car's been in the bodyshop for the last month. It looks very different from when those pics were taken. I should have new pictures in a month or two.
