Series 7 coil pack info

just a heads up the series 7 FD has a different coil pack layout than the Series 6

Series 7 coil pack info-0ie8w.jpg

thus it needs different wires

as you can see in the picture (old coil pack / wires) L1/L2 and T2 are flipped around.

I ordered Magnecor R100's for mine. thanks to Steve Brown at Magnecor. $120 Canadian with shipping. i just used the 93-95 coil packs and flipped them around on the bracket.

Great info!

Can you make the picture a little bigger? I'm having trouble seeing the bacteria on the plug wire.

No worries, I was just playing.

And yes, this is helpful because its a small detail. That's what makes this club so great. The vast amount of information, down to the small details that you wouldn't think would be covered.

The coils themselves appear identical to the USDM coils. I don't remember if the part numbers were the same or different, but I got a newer JDM longblock from Japan2LA and it had the updated rats nest design (which I did not use) and the coil mounting brackets were different (as you've mentioned here). The newer coils fit on the USDM brackets just fine, they have been on my car and working well for a few thousand miles now.

this is true, how ever the S7 coils are in a different place I looked into using S6 wires and just moving the coils around but due to a filler neck (ill grab a pic) they cant be moved back to the S6 locations, thus need the longer S7 wires.

the harness would also be mucked up if you where to flip them, again IF you could you would probably be able to get away with the USDM harness.
