Sequential Vs Non-Sequential Turbos

I am trying to sort out if non-sequential turbo cars are faster than sequential.

My view is that non-sequential turbo systems are less restrictive and trouble free. Main concern is boost creeps because of lack of backpressure.

On the other hand cars with sequential turbochargers produce a little bit less hp above 4500rpm due to restrictive ports but they produce more power on low end band from 3000-4500rpm.

So overall which is faster and safer?

I would like to have everybodys view on this matter.

Are you talking about a completely stock FD with the non-seq. mod vs. a completely stock FD without the non-seq mod?

No talking about two modified cars. Both of them with air filters, I/C, D/P, M/P, modified ECU, boost controllers, fuel pumps etc.

From the very limited dyno sheets I have seen...it appears that the nonsequential setups provide more torque and not necessarily more hp.

This is very very subjective info. Take it with a grain of salt.

The power is the same. The power curve is what is different between the two setups.

The power is NOT the same. Proper Non sequentials have less restriction in the exhaust path and the potential to make more hp once they spool.

That's *IF* they do the full non-seq conversion that they have that potential. However, most people don't do the real conversion.

yeah..but I will remind you that rikkis power is for track use.

big streetport plus non seq equals lots o laggo.

right rikki?

hehehehe

if you are running a drag car then non seq rules...if you are using it as a stoplight to stoplight city driving racer you will want the response of the seq system...at least I do.

That is nowhere near the full setup! Go to www.scuderiaciriani.com and into how to for non-sequential. Trev and Goble did a great write up of it. You're not non sequential until you've removed butterflies and doors and welded stuff :-)

I've said this before and I will say it again. If your sequential system is working fine then I would recommened staying with it. If you are having problems with it then do the conversion. I ran an 11.66 @ 118 MPH with my stock seq turbos, IC, MP, DP, CB, intake and M2 ECU. There are a lot of non seq cars that can't run that time.
You will get noticeable more lag with non seq. I definitely had to downshift more often when I eventually converted to non seq just before I went single.

i have a non-seq. setup on my FD! and i regret it! it's a very cheap and stupid way to get horses! and i think it causes to much boost! and ***** up your vacs. i seriously recommend you don't go w/ non seq. unless you're ready to rebuilt your engine or got lots of money for mods! but if you're going to keep it quite stock i say you leave it the way it is because there's probably a reason the turbo was made seq. and not non-seq.!

Dude, did you even read anything about it before you did it? IE If you car is stock or near stock DON'T do it.

LOL, it causes too much boost. YGBSM!

This debate will go on and on. Everyone has different opnions. try the poor mans and see how you like it. you'll defintely get more turbo lag, but you'll have greater potential with you non seq then with your seq set up.

Been nonsequential for a short while. Finding that my profec B is holding boost at 10 (low) and 13 (high) pretty consistently.

Not getting the boost creep others have encountered.

Mods
Catback
DP
Hiflo cat
CF M2 intake
Pettit LSMIC
Profec B
Power FC
Upgraded FP
1300 secondaries
BOP for everything

Your hi-flo cat gives enough back pressure to keep boost creep away.
