separating transmission from engine????help!!!!
hey guys well i need help and quick. well i spent 3 hours today removing all the things under the car to pull it. well i took out the starter, unbolted the cat, the 6 pressure plate bolts, there were suppose to be 5 on the bell housing but i only found 4. the one at the 2 o'clock position was not there. i also took out the motor mounts so my motor is just resting on the subframe. i pressed the clutch down so it was suppose to release something so its free but as i try to separate the engine from the tranny its not working. I dug up this from searching but i have no clue what they are talking about. can someone clarify this for me

Why the **** did you take out the mounts.... anyways
On the 5 o'clock or so position, theres a little acces panel. Take it off. Now lets see if i can explain this. Where your throwout bearing meets the pressure plate. Theres a little flange, for lack of a better word. Get a long skinny screwdriver, regular. Stick it between this little flange and the pressure plate, and twist it. it should pop out. Wait, you took out the pressure plate bolts? ****. it should come out. Your plate might be a little corroded or something to the disc and flywheel. Thats what hapend to mine. I put a prybar between the plate and flywheel and pryed it off. Its easier to disengage te throwout bearing, but I didnt know how the frist time either. If you have the pressure plate and bellhousing bolts, itll come off. You did get the 2 bolts that bolt your downpipe to the tranny, and the brace(i can never remember the name)going from your diff to your tranny, right?
And from your pic, you need to get the slave cylinder off, too. Dont undo the line, just those two bolts and the little clip that holds the hardline in place.

i took out the mounts because that rotary aviation video told me to do so in order to get more wiggle room. well i think it was better because now i found out one of the mounts is like generic. the previous owner probably put it in because its like a completely differnt color than stock

its smarter to take out the mounts if you cannot get the release to happen. i unbolted my pressure plate like you, upper intake manfold, and all accessories so i can see better and pretty much grabbed the crank pully and jolted up, down, left, and right till it was all the way out! also a trick is to use a floor jack under the tranny as support to equal the leve of the input shaft to the motor! its a bitch but if you have a cherry picker and a floor jack its cake

The floor jack is too far forward. The tranny is trying to separate with the tail end hanging down, and binding.
Not sure about the mounts - but if you have them out, try to get the engine leaning a little bit with the front end higher, this will help the tranny slide out.

alright now the top part of the bell housing is releasing but the bottom is not. it seems like it super glued or something because its not comming off. the jack i own does not go high enough jack up the transmission. im getting really frustrated now and want this engine out.

Loosen the 4 21mm nuts that hold the tranny to teh power plant frame. Do not remove them, just loosen them. Have you uncliped the 4 harness plugs that go to the transmission?
