Self-Diagnostic Stopped Working + Need all known limp mode codes

First off the self check diagnostic just stopped working for me...just all of a sudden...is there a fuse for this thing or something?

also im stuck in limp mode because i cant pull codes to find out wtf..so if anyone knows all the codes that kick it into limp mode like knock sensor, mop, etc. those would be helpful as ill just have to go thru and make sure every single one is okay...

thanks

Even if you have big time "limp mode" codes, like half the engine harness unplugged, the ECU will still report codes. If it's not reporting codes, something else is bigtime wrong.

Go through ALL your fuses and make sure nothing's blown. If you've done any aftermarket wiring recently, look into that.

Are you sure it's not working?

* I would pull a plug off (one that you know will trigger the CEL)
* start the car up
* stop the car
* then check to see if it stored the code

He's asking specifically which of those codes put the car into LIMP MODE. Not all of those codes throw the car into limp mode, some of them are just stored in the ECU.

i cant check by inducing a code..because theres already a code stuck in there. i mean it takes about 10 seconds or so to come on, but im assuming thats because the ecu throws codes only in a "failure per given time frame" fashion. something needs to be wrong a certain times in a given timeframe, sort of like a cycle rate for it to trigger. i mean there cant be too many...the codes, before the diagnostic stopped working, went thru the 20's and only stopped on 25 which is for the fuel pressure solenoid which really doesnt need to be there and ihad off before and it never limped me. And as far as i know all MOP codes are in the 20's like 27 and what not. besides the 37 or something low voltage mop code for charging system failure or some bullshit...but i got rid of that earlier, that was due to a broken alternator wire.

so again if anyone has a list of limp mode inducing codes..please share :-) Thanks

Look in the FSM under "Service points" in the fuel and emissions section. It explains what kind of symptom you will experience with each code.

so i am assu,img that the CEL is on and will not flash for you?? or will it not do the bulb check at all? or does it do the bulb check but will not turn on with the car running? or will it just not flash any codes?

check the fuses under the dash and in the engine bay, cant sy i have ever seen it in a rx but in most other cars if the ecu/ign fuse goes the CEl will light up but no code access as the ecu is powered off

When ever things go wrong with the alternator (shorts to ground, failed regulator, or bridge rectifier) it can cause ECU (problems/failure) can you borrow a working ECU from some one local to you to verify it's not that ?

If the 15A room fuse is blown the ECU will not hold a memory, so service codes for intermittent malfunctions will not be indicated.

i got it working..a wire broke under the siangostic connector and i had to open it up and fix it now its fine..randomness....but still stuck now with the code 27 for the MOP that comes on 30 seconds after the car is started..so limp mode is stuck. ill remove the mop and test it to make sure its not a bad wire somewhere...how much do you think i could scoop one up for on the forums?

be sure and premix if you drive it to make sure you KNOW you have some lubrication going on in the engine. If it's not pumping oil in, even while your idling in the driveway - it can eat away at the seals, atleast with the premix you have some.

yea i premixed back when before i even pulled a code just incase..is 8 ounces of 2 cycle in half a tank of gas sufficient? atleast for letting it idle and some slow sub-3000 rpm limp mode driving?
