secondary boost issue

secondary boost issue
I've been having this problem for quite sometime now, when the secondary kicks in it hits around 7-8psi and then it starts to flutter around 5-7 range all the way to redline. the primary is spooling fine just the secondary is acting up, any suggestions?

check all the hoses and couplers, Especially around Bov and CRV. Also you might want to check little check valves, the one under the pressure chamber and the one coming from UIM to the vacuum chamber, are the most important ones.

This is a pretty common problem. I've had it happen to me twice. The first time was a collapsed vacuum line that attached to the CRV. That was a pretty easy find, and fix. The second time was a bit more difficult. It turned out one of the TCA solenoids went bad (there are two Turbo Control Actuator solenoids, and they help to control the transition). I had to replace that solenoid.
The solenoids fail quite often as they are plastic and are exposed to the extreme heat of the engine. After a while, they just start to die. Start by checking all of your hoses and solenoids.
There is a pretty good website that gives detailed information on the turbo system, how it operates, and how to solve problems related to it. Unfortunately, I'm at work, and I don't have the address off the top of my head. Maybe someone can post it, or I'll see if I can find it for you.

Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, Just_Bring_It has a good point: the little green check valves fail quite often too, and can cause the same problem (specifically: look at the check valve that is near the pressure tank).

I just replaced the CCA solenoid and the car was working fine or a bit then the problem started up again. Is it possible to fry a solenoid in a matter of days? I was wondering what was the color pattern of the plugs that plug into the solenoid.. u know hwo like each solenoid plug is like color coded i was wondering maybe i might of mixed them up or osemthing.

If you only replaced one solenoid, how would you have mixed up the connectors?
I would suspect turbo precontrol and/or charge control - solenoids and associated vacuum circuits. Most likely turbo precontrol...

oh no no Like i did a vac job a while back and i was hoping i didn't make a mistake mislabling the connectors, yah sorry if it was misleading but i just changed out the cca solenoid.. it was a Pain in the *** getting to that solenoid it felt like doing the vac job all over agian

I've seen the CCA Itself go bad. It's diaphragm on the inside was starting to leak/tear. It wouldn't hold vacc or pressure the way it is supposed to after the transition. After long hours of checking and rechecking the rats nest and all hoses I decided to replace that and it worked. BTW: EVEY time I tested the CCA by itself. Singled out from the rest of the system, The CCA checked out OK. Held vacc when applied. Wierd!!! I have also seen the flapper valve stick open or closed or half way even. But it sounds as if it's a control problem instead of movement of the valve. Hope this may shed some light on it....EDIT: I just remembered your other post about your A/C. Is there any connection between the two problems? ( Boost problems with the a/c on. I know i'm reaching but just thinking)
