Question salvage title

Ok guys what's up. Noob here with a quick question. I have been looking to buy a 3rd gen for about 2 years now, and I just found one. Just ran a carfax, came up with a salvage title so i called the dealership and asked them about it. They say they just put a rebuilt 2 rotor in about 1000 miles ago and that is why it is a salvage title, but I have never ever heard that before, that you would be 'required' to have a salvage title for an engine swap. Maybe I could check out a Honda forum, they swap more. Anyways, any help would be appreciated.

(and take it easy on me, i'm just a noobie)

They are bullshitting you..

I bet over 70% of us would have salvage titles..if that was the case.

Never heard of that either. Does it have a rebuilt title or is it just a salvage title

Well all it says is Salvage title. The first date, salvage title wise, is back in April of 1997 (maybe it was just a veeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long 1000 miles for the car up until now)

Twice in 2001, there was a 'not actualy mileage title' issued, in Feb and April....

hmm, I thought the guy had no freakin clue what he was talking about.

Thanks for the help though, I am just gonna go sit in the corner and mope now because i couldn't sleep while thinking about getting this car.

Commercial Vehicle registered for business purposes.
Salvage/Junk Title States issue salvage titles when an insurance company takes possession of a vehicle as a result of a claim. This generally occurs after a vehicle has been declared a total loss. States issue junk titles to indicate that a vehicle is not road worthy and cannot be titled again in that state.
Unreliable Odometer (Not Actual Mileage) When the seller certifies, under the Truth in Mileage Act, that the odometer reading is NOT ACTUAL MILEAGE. This may occur because the disclosed odometer reading was not accurate and verifiable.

my 3rd gen has a salvage title on it and it has bondo everywhere. make sure you look closely at the body. mine has started cracking just all of a sudden. the car has scuff marks from bad finishing. not bad from far away, but for me it sucks cause i look at mine very closely everyday. just make sure you look for funny looking paint. or uneven body lines. i noticed all of this after i bought mine. yippee

The dealer really meant the car go into an accident and was not able to run afterwards, so they had to do some major work to the engine to run again. Hence the salvage title. That also means the car was declared a total loss after the accident.

If you're going through a dealer, you're paying a primo price anyway, so why accept a salvage title? There are plenty of good cars out there. Don't get stuck thinking one car you see is 'the only car for you'. These cars are fairly rare, so you may have to travel to get a good one.

I've also found that they're advertised in all sorts of places. Just hitting the usual spots may not turn up the gem you're looking for. Here's one I came across that looked pretty good, though I haven't seen the car in person. It's an older owner with an unmodified car. I think this is the best kind of car to look for.

To the best of my knowledge, a salvage title indicates the car was totalled in an accident then repaired. The question is, do you want to own the 64th 1995 RX-7 ever made? I know that I tell everyone I know that my '93 is the 548th model of this bodystyle (made in January 1992). I know the guy who owns the last '95 ever imported to America. That's bragging rights...
