Good things come to those who wait. :)
Question is, how long will we have to wait???
Making a good light kit for these cars isn't an easy task.
I'm troubled by the progress on this kit, in the past many have tried and failed to make a functional, affordable, easy to install headlight kit.
I'm sure Ryan or NTech will update this thread if (ever) there are any updates on the project.

give us something to look at ryan.

yes, please!

Kas_Rx 11-04-02 07:43 AM

not to be rude mate, but 600-700 US $ is $1200 AUD which can get me a hi-flow intercooler here.

The lights look great however =)

have you thought about having the brackets/setup moulded using plastic templates?

That would be light and flexible, also faster and more cost effective..

mr_ouija 11-04-02 07:43 AM

I'm with the rest of'em. I'd really like to see this kit work out. I like the sleepy eyed kit better than the Sleek lights, and was looking at buying the KS kit until reading this thread. :)

streetraceseven 11-04-02 09:52 AM

i want one now...........

New to the 93+ aftermarket scene? :) Price the other kits and you'll see that his asking price is reasonable:

Not saying that I would not love to pay less (or hell, since we're talking about it, I would love Ryan to pay me to own his lights), but simple market economics dictate what a niche part for a niche car in niche market can go for - where the consumer gets what s/he thinks is a reasonable deal and the manufacturer/retailer makes a reasonable profit. :)

rx7even 11-04-02 03:56 PM

Hey guys, I'll get ahold of Nick and see how things are looking.

Ech - Exterior wise, the two will look similar (but still slightly different). Underneath is a whole nother story. Lighting will be the biggest difference (ours will be better). :)

Wptrx7 - Picture of me in a thong work? No? ;)

Streetraceseven - Me too!

7-sins 11-04-02 09:35 PM

Common man cant we at least see a teaser pic. ;) I making some good $$$ now and would love to put these on my car!!!

DBreeze 11-06-02 06:05 AM

RX7even count me in

Would you put me in you Emailing list for when you have a price and are done with the prototype.
Thanx:D

I bet you are getting tired of people harassing you? But I am in the same boat as everyone else and am eager for them to be completed so I can order a set for my FD!

I would doubt that. The excitement being generated on this board is an indication that he already has many customers lined up. That's the BEST thing that can happen for an entrepreneur. :D

rx7even 11-13-02 03:51 PM

Double post, wweeeeeee!

rx7even 11-13-02 03:51 PM

Yeah this thread does help keep me motivated in the project. :)

I talked to Nick to see where we're at. The current design is coming along. It's currently not a funded project (in other words I havent given him any money recently to help with the costs), so it's a side project at the moment, but it is being worked on daily. That's about all I can say right now. :wiggle:

the_glass_man 11-13-02 04:09 PM

Just how far along are they? 20%, 50%???
I excited about these, but don't know if I can wait another 6 months to upgrade my lighting. :(

xstacy7 11-13-02 04:26 PM

Hey RX7even, If you have enough time, will you put me down for a set
~ Thanks

froggy 11-14-02 10:27 AM

You know having to wait for something that you want really bad sucks out loud! can't wait to see the finished product!!!

Here is an idea - just to help keep the design fluid and the schedule long :-)

The double lamp looks great when both lamps are lit. It also looks good when both are not lit, but most times you won't see them with retracting lights.

But most of the driving is with just the low lamps. BMW showed us how nice it looks when the second lamp is lit enough to be seen, but not full on.

I'm not suggesting a secondary ring-light, like they use, but instead wouldn't it be pretty easy to send low voltage from the driving light to the high-beams. Just splice the wire into the low beam, and put a diode and some means of stepping down the voltage. This could be a seperate add-on wiring kit - with all the connectors.

The end result is that the high beam lamps would glow while driving and then come on full when you bring on the highs. There shouldn't need to be any modification to the lamps, the mechanical kit, or to the stock wiring.

Just a thought.

You may have already said it in the post some where but are you just putting regular headlights back in or is it stricktly just for projectors? judging by the first 2 pics the lights look like projectors. Just real curious. All looks awesome man, keep up the good work.

Cool, nice to have the option, esp if already using superwhite bulbs.

I'm wondering about just using the existing high-beem bulb iself, no add on. The nice thing is it would match perfectly, and should cost a lot less than $300.

rx7even 11-25-02 06:59 PM

ech - The high beams actually have a flat area on the bottom where a hole can be drilled out and a light put in there. It is actually intended to be used as a "city light" overseas (I'm sure someone else could explain what that is better then me). I'm sure a low wattage bulb could easily be put in there if you wanted one in there. I'm not sure yet if it'll be an option or not, but probably not. It's gotten me thinking though.

20bwannab - They're projectors. And nice ones at that. :)

Zoomspeed 11-25-02 09:57 PM

so wuts the status on the kit?

We have an ETA yet?

tookwik 11-25-02 10:35 PM

yeah, ive just been sittin back watching this post and have just know decided to say something. I think, if the cost is not to high, use the normal sleepy light setup with the same diameter housings and have an option of BMW angel eyes. If you guys are interested in HID's, i know a guy that can get a kit for basically any type of bulb and any temperature (6k-9k) for less than $400. Ive got his H4 7k kit in right now that cost me $375 shipped, its very easy to install and looks awesome. It has that purplish Honda S2000, BMW X5 and mercedes glare to it. maybe i'll put up a pic. when are we gonna see the progress?
