No angel eyes. ;) Just plain ole run of the mill Hella 90mm's.

JimmyJimboJet 01-28-03 10:48 PM

no angel eye's? sniffle, sniffle...

i still want them though.

maybe you could start a mail list or something like that to keep us updated? then we won't have to ask 'is it done yet' 12 times a day...

Scrub 01-29-03 07:14 AM

That would be nice if you included a sleepy eye conversion kit with the headlights for a little extra. sleepy eye pop ups are so sexy.

Cihuuy 01-29-03 08:37 AM

ill say close the thread... and start a new one if there is more update...?? ;)
and when can we see the prototype showing both sets of light on both of the housing??

tookwik 01-29-03 10:21 AM

so... still no idea of when it will be done?

rx7even 01-29-03 09:37 PM

JimmyJimboJet - Good idea, but I think you'll know when they're finished. ;)

Scrub - They pretty much are "sleepy eye." Compared to the stock lights anyway.

Cihuuy - As soon as they're done there'll be a picture of both sides. The way the lights are, we're focusing on one side only, when that is done, all we have to do is mirror it to make the other side.

tookwik - I might have a chance to see them when I'm up there this weekend. If not, I'll try and take a few minutes to talk to him about them.

Mr. Stock 01-29-03 10:25 PM

Please, Pulleeese, string me along!

tookwik 01-30-03 10:20 AM

thank you

Hell yes! I don't even OWN an FD, and I still am eagerly awaiting these lights! Since I plan on owning one of these cars someday soon, if you're making a limited run of these lights, I may have to order a set before I even own the car. :)

ech 03-25-03 04:46 PM

Just 6 more days until this thread has it's very own first birthday. If I were this thread I sure know what I would want for a present.....

Radical Rotary Avantgard 03-25-03 06:18 PM

These are the most Fucking over-engineered, re-designed, re-invented and waited for sleepy headlight kit.
I was interested a year ago but since then got me a KnightSport kit.
Not worth the waiting for a kit that won't be produced any time soon and the quality is questionable.
The savings is not going to be that much by the time they are done with this NASA engineered wanabe kit.
So for all I care you can take your kit and shine it up your ass whenever is ready. :D
Probably never.

ROTORHP 03-25-03 08:02 PM

HAHAHAHA...Nice one......:D

Radical Rotary Avantgard 03-30-03 08:10 AM

HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!!
One whole year in the making.
Either you are the slowest most obsessive compulsive perfectionist or the biggest fool in history trying to re-invent the wheel.
You better fade away, because when this kit is ever finished and for the amount of $$$$ you are going to ask for it, people are going to laugh at you for being the biggest fool.
:D

Snook 03-30-03 09:59 AM

Radical Rotary Avantgard: Your 2 posts were actually really really funny

But these lights were out about 9 months ago and everyone else except for you got a set. You musta missed it man??? rx7even's all sold out now

If you come down to Florida I bet you rx7even will show you a couple things about lighting and then proceed to hand you your lighted up ass (since you like to put lights up there) in a race.

Snook

SnowmanSteiner 03-30-03 11:34 AM

Hey it's my birthday today too. And I agree I would expect these lights to be absolutely perfect after all this time.

DBreeze 05-24-03 02:25 PM

HEY WHAT HAPPEND

has a new thread been started for these headlights or did rx7even fall of the edge of the earth???

r0t0r-rooter 05-24-03 04:31 PM

Such hostility & bitterness........ :(

rx7even 05-25-03 04:57 AM

Haha Snook, that was great! :D

In all honesty, I still plan to finish these lights. I moved about 140 miles from N-Tech many months ago. There was a bunch of miscommunication (mostly on my part) to where he was waiting on money from me to continue work on the lights, and I didn't realize it. So the lights have sat. Currently I'm back for a few months, and working at N-Tech now, and hopefully if the work load lightens up, we'll be able to work on them again. I'll probably let this thread die and start a new one should anything come about.

SPOautos 05-25-03 10:40 AM

So I guess all you guys are getting pissed cause you helped by investing some money into this venture, or maybe cause you've already paid the money for the kit or something......right

OR

Are you just a bunch of whining crybabies that dont know how to do shit for yourself and want somone to give you shit practically for free and you pissed cause it hasnt happened.

Well guess what, no one has the right to bitch unless you paid for something a year ago....which non of you has.

I'm sure he'll let everyone know when he's finished and wants to sell something to you guys.

STEPHEN

racerfoo 05-25-03 11:04 AM

atta boy stephen...i think you hit the nail on the head.

jmadams74 11-15-03 10:29 PM

Any update on this or is it dead? Would love this kit. . .

Kento 11-15-03 10:38 PM

I'd say it's pretty dead...or in seriously deep hibernation. Right Ryan? :(

Zyon13B 11-15-03 10:47 PM

I talked to him about 1 mo ago, he said he pulled them out of storage to work on them.

bigmack000 11-15-03 11:11 PM

wow i can't belive i read this whole thing. wake me up when they are done
JOEL

fdannels 11-16-03 12:36 AM

yeh mee too

rx7even 11-16-03 05:09 AM

Aahh, the thread is back from the dead! Haha.

As Zyon13B said, I did get them out of hiding recently and have been looking and doing some serious thinking on just how everything is going to work. I've come up with some ideas on how to simplify everything and make everything work together so much easier. If all goes according to plan, it shouldn't take long at all to get a running kit going, I just have to find some time to do it here soon. I've also talked to a fiberglass person about these, and he seems very interested in working with us to get a nice front cover and such (and he does some AMAZING work), so it's looking promising once again.

For those just coming into this thread and have read all 12 pages to get to this point, I admire your determination (and unbelievable boredom), and apologize for this taking so long that the thread got to 12 pages. ;) That last part goes for anyone else that has been patiently (or not so patiently) waiting on these to get finished.

Ryan

BoostedRex 11-16-03 12:02 PM

Ryan, I'm glad to see that you are back on the project. I thought for a minute that I was gonna have to shell out the $850 for the Knightsports kit. Keep us all posted. Laterz.

Zach

David Hayes 11-17-03 02:10 PM

Ryan,

Love the look of the kit and would be interested in purchasing once they are available (read the first few pages and skipped to the end!).

David Hayes 11-27-03 07:14 PM

Make these dammit!!

FormerPorscheGuy 11-27-03 07:15 PM

Wow, this is an old post.

novaz 12-03-03 12:27 PM

So does anyone know if there is a website with the specs of the "Hella 90mm" lights on it?

And will we be able to buy just the hardware and mounting brackets, and purchase the lamps seperately?

Cheers,
Interested from afar!

68136 and 68137 are regular head lights. I think about $70 each form summit.

The one that says Xenon is an HID. They only list a low beam Xenon module but if you get into there catalog they do have a high beam module too. The HIDs are crazy expensive. From summit the low beam "kit" (which includes ONE light and ONE ballast and all the stuff that coems with it) is over $400. So to do HID LOW beams your looking at $800-900 for both sides. Unless someone can find them for cheaper; if os let me know.

novaz 12-03-03 09:47 PM

If this kit ever becomes available, I would take the metalwork for sure! I can source bulbs elsewhere.

I read the whole thread yesterday, and saw that these lights could be close.. And that they would be in a new thread.. Does that thread exist, or are the lights still in limbo?

I was considering the Knightsport kit, but my buddy in Japan reckons they are for looks only. Can't drive at night with them because they are fog lights = 20m range.

SaiyanJin93 12-04-03 11:57 AM

any1 have a pic they can email me or repost... the original pics aren't showing up for me from the 1st page

I dont think that that is true about the 20m range. A buddy of mine has/had the kit and when you rode with them, they seemed to project very nicely into the distance.
