HELLO! luigi |
he got married:nono:
|
Married? Ha my gf just slapped me! Well not really, but she would have had she been here when she read it. You're gonna get me in trouble, haha. I was waiting to get some more information from Nick, but all I can say now is that he is in the process of moving his shop, so obviously that'll set things back a few days. Will I post more when I find out? Absolutely! :)

man... everytime this thread pops back up, it seems like i haven't seen it for like a month... but then it's only a week... (hint hint)
|
This would be a great christmas present.... ;) Any updates?
|
or 3 days...

I stopped tinkering with my lights since I thought that the introduction of the light kit was imminent. Guess I was wrong.
Time to go back to the drawing board. |
????????
Has this thread gone cold or what???
Where is the sleepy headlight kit??? |
Don't worry guys, the lights are still coming. They're being worked on everyday, I promise. There's so much stuff that all has to be put in just the right place, the lights, the headlight cover, the front cover, ect, so the design has undergone many changes. The current version has absolutely no resemblence to my original design, which while relatively simple, would've been hard to replicate perfectly everytime. We're trying to keep the design simple, which should help keep the cost down, and it looks like the design currently underway will be the best yet. It's pretty difficult to design one of these from the ground up, but they're coming along.
Ryan |
Ryan,
You can go ahead and put me down for a set as soon as you get everything ready to go. I'm killin' time in a really shitty country right now thanks to the wonderful Air Force, but hey it's giving me time to save up money. Just let me know how things are coming. Zach |

That wouldn't be a smart thing for me to post up now would it? ;) From the outside, the lights will still look the same, this is just "behind the scenes" stuff that's changing.
|
i get'cha ;)
|
Will it be ready by the end of the year?
It sure be the best kit ever with all the redesigning since it started.
I am willing to wait to eternity for it if that is the case. HURRY UP!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
--> Thunk <--

While we wait, here is something to look at.
https://www.rx7club.com/forum/attach...postid=1191711 .. from knightsport in Japan. Not HID compatible. I just ran across this when surfing. I have no idea about quality, etc. Anyone know anything about these? How will the ones in this thread compare? Any word yet from Nick on progress? thanks, -Erik |

Is it any good? What are the diffs between it and the kit we are all drooling over?
Just curious. (still holding out for the RX7even kit) |
Looks like quite a project...I am interested to see pricing as well.
|
Good things come to those who wait. :)
Question is, how long will we have to wait??? Making a good light kit for these cars isn't an easy task. I'm troubled by the progress on this kit, in the past many have tried and failed to make a functional, affordable, easy to install headlight kit. I'm sure Ryan or NTech will update this thread if (ever) there are any updates on the project. |
give us something to look at ryan.
luigi |
yes, please!
|
not to be rude mate, but 600-700 US $ is $1200 AUD which can get me a hi-flow intercooler here.
The lights look great however =) have you thought about having the brackets/setup moulded using plastic templates? That would be light and flexible, also faster and more cost effective.. |
I'm with the rest of'em. I'd really like to see this kit work out. I like the sleepy eyed kit better than the Sleek lights, and was looking at buying the KS kit until reading this thread. :)
|
i want one now...........

Hey guys, I'll get ahold of Nick and see how things are looking.
Ech - Exterior wise, the two will look similar (but still slightly different). Underneath is a whole nother story. Lighting will be the biggest difference (ours will be better). :) Wptrx7 - Picture of me in a thong work? No? ;) Streetraceseven - Me too! |
Common man cant we at least see a teaser pic. ;) I making some good $$$ now and would love to put these on my car!!!
|
RX7even count me in
Would you put me in you Emailing list for when you have a price and are done with the prototype.
Thanx:D |
lol
|
I bet you are getting tired of people harassing you? But I am in the same boat as everyone else and am eager for them to be completed so I can order a set for my FD!

Double post, wweeeeeee!
|
Yeah this thread does help keep me motivated in the project. :)
I talked to Nick to see where we're at. The current design is coming along. It's currently not a funded project (in other words I havent given him any money recently to help with the costs), so it's a side project at the moment, but it is being worked on daily. That's about all I can say right now. :wiggle: |
Just how far along are they? 20%, 50%???
I excited about these, but don't know if I can wait another 6 months to upgrade my lighting. :( |
Hey RX7even, If you have enough time, will you put me down for a set
~ Thanks |
You know having to wait for something that you want really bad sucks out loud! can't wait to see the finished product!!!

Here is an idea - just to help keep the design fluid and the schedule long :-)
The double lamp looks great when both lamps are lit. It also looks good when both are not lit, but most times you won't see them with retracting lights. But most of the driving is with just the low lamps. BMW showed us how nice it looks when the second lamp is lit enough to be seen, but not full on. I'm not suggesting a secondary ring-light, like they use, but instead wouldn't it be pretty easy to send low voltage from the driving light to the high-beams. Just splice the wire into the low beam, and put a diode and some means of stepping down the voltage. This could be a seperate add-on wiring kit - with all the connectors. The end result is that the high beam lamps would glow while driving and then come on full when you bring on the highs. There shouldn't need to be any modification to the lamps, the mechanical kit, or to the stock wiring. Just a thought. |
You may have already said it in the post some where but are you just putting regular headlights back in or is it stricktly just for projectors? judging by the first 2 pics the lights look like projectors. Just real curious. All looks awesome man, keep up the good work.

Cool, nice to have the option, esp if already using superwhite bulbs.
I'm wondering about just using the existing high-beem bulb iself, no add on. The nice thing is it would match perfectly, and should cost a lot less than $300. |
ech - The high beams actually have a flat area on the bottom where a hole can be drilled out and a light put in there. It is actually intended to be used as a "city light" overseas (I'm sure someone else could explain what that is better then me). I'm sure a low wattage bulb could easily be put in there if you wanted one in there. I'm not sure yet if it'll be an option or not, but probably not. It's gotten me thinking though.
20bwannab - They're projectors. And nice ones at that. :) Ryan |
so wuts the status on the kit?
We have an ETA yet? |
yeah, ive just been sittin back watching this post and have just know decided to say something. I think, if the cost is not to high, use the normal sleepy light setup with the same diameter housings and have an option of BMW angel eyes. If you guys are interested in HID's, i know a guy that can get a kit for basically any type of bulb and any temperature (6k-9k) for less than $400. Ive got his H4 7k kit in right now that cost me $375 shipped, its very easy to install and looks awesome. It has that purplish Honda S2000, BMW X5 and mercedes glare to it. maybe i'll put up a pic. when are we gonna see the progress?
