Could you show a picture of what the lights look like from the side or above-behind when in sleepy position? Is there anything, like gaps, that look funny when the covers are 1/2 to 2/3 open?

I sacond putting good lighting patter higher in priority over the lowest possible lid.

keep us posted!

Thanks ech,

I'll try and get a picture from the side next time I put them back in and I'll post it up when I do. As for gaps, I'm no totally sure yet since I haven't yet fixed the headlight cover onto the bracket (it's just sitting about where I want it in the pictures). The only gap would be in between the headlights and the hood, but there's one there on the stock lights when the lights are up. It should be less in these.

The lights will open and close just like stock, they just won't go up as high. :)

Er, well probably, like A-Spec said it can be done. I doubt I'll be selling these as an option, but they could be bought seperately and added on later.

Ryan
I think on the site you can buy the add on to make them light up like that. I will have to contact them and see what they could do.

Those lights are nice!! Anyways can you stagger them a little more like the panspeed ones instead of just having both lights lined up next to eachother. Does that replace the whole assembly? Would you make those for money?

hey Mike, if you like those lights, why not just ask kevin Wyum to make yu a set of his ASP headlights that rotor dave's were obviously modeled after. I think that i am one of the few ppl that like the asp lights, but IMO they look better than rotor dave's version. someone posted pics of Wael's CYM with newly installed ASP lights on here like 2 days ago. look for the pics and check em out.

A-Spec 04-10-02 12:34 AM

here's my friend's 240 with the light conversion. HID too.

First of all, I didn't model these after ASP's, second, I made these just for the fun of it, third, I think they look better than Kevins, fourth from what I know-he doesn't really sell them anymore-sounds like his person is too lazy, fifth, I made these before Panspeed's even came out! Sixth, they are not rotordave's-he is just a friend of mine who put my pic. up, my name is Spyro, and whoever doesn't like them I don't really care! But I'll bet you I see better on the road than you!:p:

Rx7even.. Are you using the Pivot controller to adjust the sleepy look?

Nope. Redesigned the brackets to make it work right.

Chron 04-18-02 11:22 PM

wouldnt that burn out your motor?

rx7even 04-19-02 12:10 AM

Not the slightest bit. They'll function 100% just like stock, but instead of raising the light the whole way, it'll only raise them about half as high. I'm redesigning the brackets so that when the motor is in the full up position, they'll only be half as high. No motor problems at all. :)

Mindphrame 04-19-02 12:16 AM

I gotta say, I'm getting pretty excited about all this. I cant wait to see the final product. Finally...better lighting and cool looking ta-boot.

I have a suggestion about the vertical alignment, which is basically that the lights should be at just about the same level. The reason I think that "works" is because it puts each light in the middle of the opening. I doctored your picture to show what I mean:

Sorry about that Max, I was just reading over everything again and realized I kind of skipped over your post before. How you're talking about having them setup though is exactly how they'll be when all is said and done. The inside light is just a fraction below the outside light, enough so that it's noticable, but not so much that it stands out and looks bad. I need to hurry up and finish these so I can get on my next project I have in mind. :D

NickSimcheck 04-19-02 10:59 AM

Yeah hurry up on these bad ass mo-fo's I didn't think they would turn out as good as they are but now I just might get a pair from you... Kepp up the good work!

Kevin? do i detect some rotary interest once again?
c'mon, you know you want to sell the nsx and buy another FD.
Remember me, they guy who flew from NY to check out the FD when you were selling?

what in the world is up with Wyum's car?

Nice job, even though your kind of a dick(RX7EVEN). If anyone is interested you can get that kit from Knightsports for $850.95 with shipping from Japan

Actually the knightsports kit is as dim as your intelligence. The lighting on this kit is a lot better than the knightsports kit, as well as being DOT legal. The lights are true hi/low beam unlike the KS which uses driving lights. I've never seen the KS kit in person, but mine should be lower as well (not raise up as high). Also I'm planning on it having a carbon fiber front bezel instead of the KS fiberglass (?) one. I'm trying to keep the price quite a bit under that too.

Oh, and I'm not the dick (good job, you spelled it right that time!) :), I posted a picture and asked a question, you're the one that took it to petty name calling. Thank you. :)

user 84205 04-21-02 07:36 PM

HAHAHA good luck with the lights hahaha, im tired of talking to u..

NickSimcheck 04-21-02 08:39 PM

Ahh, don't let numb-nutts get to ya... with the "haha" I always like it when somebody replys with a "hahaha" - then you Know you bitch slaped them. The more and more I think about it the more and more I want a pair from you! Soo if it turns out like I think it's going to count me as another buyer!

Nick

rx7even 04-21-02 09:45 PM

I think I want these things done about as much as you want me to have them done. If I could quit changing my mind and leave things alone, I could probably have them done by now. They're close enough now that I could just take them to a machine shop and have them do the final adjustments (probably). I might go talk to them this week and see what they say.

hey Ryan,

here's how to put the HIDs in the hellas. The D2S are positioned perfectly this way and produce some great lightning. That's how my friend with the 240 did it.

Ah FINALLY the forum lets me on. Ggrr at it. Anyway I'm considering buying one after I get the 3rd gen lights going, and I might possibly make a kit for it when I do, we'll see.

Ryan

rx7even 05-03-02 10:36 AM

The price I'm still estimating is around $600-$700, hopefully. As for a time frame, well I got delayed a few days here recently, but I'm still working on the bracket. I hope to have them out sometime this summer. Trust me, no one wants them done more than me. :)

Ryan

NickSimcheck 05-03-02 10:42 AM

You had that problem too? The forum wasn't loading all yesterday. (Or did you get banned or sumthin?)

Nick

No it just wouldn't load. Wow I thought it was just me.

I'm not going to ask "the question" - I understand that these side projects can take forever.

But can you feed us? How about some picks of the brackets or something?

95R2-89TII Ground Zero 05-10-02 03:44 PM

Those look awsome. I would buy a set, but how much are thinking for the cost.

Yeah I'm pretty well swamped right now and I've kind of neglected the lights recently. They'll get done though, it's just going to take a little time to get everything ironed out. Not too much time though.

For obvious (sort of) reasons, I'm not going to post any pics of the brackets. It would be too easy for someone to copy them if I did that. ;)

Unfortunately not yet. I graduate in about 2 weeks, and after that I won't need my car everyday and I'll be able to sleep again, so I'll be able to finish them up then. :)
