Rx7 Vs Holden Vl Turbo
Hello everyone,
I know someone that lives up the road and he has a VL turbo that is now running 350kw off a gt35 turbo running at 15 psi and he says that he can beat an rx7 by 6 to 7 car lengths.....pffftt
I honestly don't think he can.
He also claims that he can do a 5th gear burn out....again pfffttt. I've seen some really right off cars and they could only get into 4th than would have to go back to 3rd gear.
Here is a picture of his car. Do you think that this VL could possibly beat an rx7 by that much if at all.

Looks like a sleeper but i still don't think he can beat an rx7 by 6-7 car lenghts. First of all a modded rx7 with stock turbos is a 12 sec car. What does this make him? A 10sec car, i don't think so, especially with those tyres he only wishes. But if your car is stock standard then who knows.

My friend there is absolutely no way that VL turbo is not being flogged by a FD. There is no way that car is anything like a 10 second car. What are those tires, and FMIC?? You need to call his bluff ASAP and then post the video of you floggin his butt on the web.

Does that really matter? That car is ugly as **** man. You roll up to a bunch of fine *** females who do you think they will go for? Haha! Seriously though I've come up against some serious sleeps with the Camaro but in the 7 they just don't seem to have slept enough...

The Commodore would potentially whip an rx7 in a straight line..
They are lower geared, and weigh less.
The Nissan engine in that would be an RB30T (Similar to the RB25 in the skyline GTs-T but with more Cubes than the GTR skyline..) The 350kw figure is actually believable....
Totally unsure how much your "friend" is flogging his own chain..but it is possible to get a sleeper spec VL well and truly into the 12's..and with a simple change of rear rubber a high 10 is possible (Whilst still in sleeper mode)
Easiest way though is to call the bluff..and take a sleeper spec FD3s up against him. If he even stays with you in the straights he is not 100% full of ****..if he flogs you..simply say np and offer to challenge around a few corners..
The VL will tramline like a biatch..handle like a dog..and not be able to stop.
Hell for $2000 Aus I could easily build a sleeper that would flog my FD3s in a straight line..but it wouldnt do anything else! (My old Valiant with a 265 Hemi and t04 turbo on a blow through carby was quicker than my FD in a straight line!.)

the weight on the turbo versions was 1294kg - about 2850lbs (the calais turbo versions would have been heavier). 150kw (200hp) from an RB30ET - but tons of potential from that block - there are many, many cars sub-13secs (they were a 16sec car from the factory).
could a worked one blow away an FD? absolutely - but it will never be the same kind of car as the FD.
btw, holden (GMH) is the australian division of GM - and the VL is a commodore, which is base on the opel omega.

I think the humor was lost in the translation....................
I had no idea it was that lite.

How much do Fd's weight?
See, FD's have the power of 255 horse power stock? Japanese imports have 280 stock? I think that the FD can take it seriously. I think he is all talk and no action.
