RX7 reliability in hot termperatures
I live in Phoenix and I just purchased an Rx7 from Mississippi. I read a lot about problems with the turbo and motor overheating in hot termperatures. As many of you probably know, it gets to be about 115 degrees here in the summer. What should be the first modifications I do to ensure that my new ride will not overheat or have any other heat related problems.

First mod, get a beater Seriously, I don't think I'd drive it in 115 degree weather.
In all seriousness tho, pick up a radiator, I think that'll give you the best results in lowering under hood temperatures.

do not drive it during the day. thats how you keep it reliable....i fried my side seals while racing out in that kind of heat.
sicminded said it well...get all those mods asap....you need and ABSOULTEY MUST HAVE an aftermarket temp guage....if your temps rise over 100 celcius then dont drive it until you can keep the heat down to 97 or less...preferrably closer to 87 degrees c.

115 is insane! i can smell heatsoak. i personally wouldnt drive around when its even in the mid 90's. but if your a/c has frion in it and you make it a habbit of using your a/c in that heat. you should be okay since the cooling fans kick on. sicminded is on the right track. invest in an ast kit or eliminate it, a water temp gauge so you can stress when the temp rises while you sit at a light, and an aluminum radiator just because.

Its not that bad, definately the aluminum radiator and some kind of temp gauge. I watch my PFC like a hawk when I am in slow moving traffic. I do my best to make sure I never get stuck in stop and go for very long, idling at the stop light or traffic jam without moving and running the A/C is what makes the temps skyrocket.

A/C I got rid of that thing.. lol.. my car runs alot cooler since I pulled the condensor out *didnt remove the compressor, just unpluged it* My fans are hardwired on.. I have noticed huge drops since I removed the condensor which was litarlly mounted to my radiator by the previous owner.
