rx7 key stuck

hey guys, i have a '93 rx-7 with an 2000 camaro ls1 with t-56 trans swap.

tonight as i was pulling up to my firends house, my key got stuck in the ignition, i can only move it forward (as to start the car) i cannot pull it back or anything i had to stall the car to turn it off, and my batter has a kill switch so i killed the battery and it is staying in my friends garage

basically the problem is the key will not come out at all it will not turn back

i was wondering if any of you guys could help me with my problem? MUCH will be appreciated thanks

Brian

hey, i know this may seem obvious and i dont mean to make out like your dumb, but are you pushing the key inwards towards the steering wheel as you try to turn it off? If you do not do this, the key will not come out.

the next option (apart from wiggling it around frantically and trying to yank it out) is to remove your ignition barrel and try to dismantle it to get the key out, see whats caused it to get stuck...the RX7 has not mechanism in place that im aware of the physically lock the key in place so it sounds as if the blades in the key mechanism may have seized or something.

If i were you id be taking the battery out of the car, removing the ignition barrel and trying to get the key out inside... If you cant do it, try taking it to a locksmith - they may be able to help.

Funny thing is I had this same problem w/ my stock key. After about 15 minutes of wiggling and such it came out, maybe I just got lucky. I just had a new key made and don't use the stock for the ignition anymore, no more problems. Wierd...
