RX7 Fashion FMIC Install question

RX7 Fashion FMIC Install question
I just had a quick question about that cross bar thing that goes across the front. Apparently you have to cut it off to put on the RX7 Fashion fmic? My question is, what's the proper way of removing this bar?
Also, does the FMIC just mount in the holes where the Rebar used to mount?
Thanks

Do you mean the fiberglass bumper suppourt or the main front suppourt? Maybe post a pic of what you are speaking of. I know the greddy fmic requires cutting of the firberglass bumper suppourt and that is no big deal. BUT if you are talking about the 3"x2" metal that the fiberglass bolts to then I would find another fmic. It is a bad idea to start hacking at that.

Eric,
It does bolt up to where the rebar used to mount.
Removing the metal cross beam will take some kind of saw, I used a Rotozip. Just have to find the most efficient way to cut.
Give me a call, ill be home this weekend mounting my 99 spec w/ that FMIC.

Yeah I'm talking about that beam that goes across the front underneath the rebar when you take it off.
Randy, it'd be cool if you could give me some tips on how to go at this It looks like the FMIC has to mount flush so that metal beam has to come off entirely, which is the hard part
I'm a bit worried about cutting that piece of metal off AND not being able to run the rebar :/

the metal cross frame rebar comes off easily with a chisel since there are a couple of spot welds.
and the fmic mounts right up using the bumper rebar bolts/holes
here's a picture of my old setup, not the same ic but same design almost.

The only hard part, as you can see in the pics above is cutting that other bar for the ducting. I used my rotozip for that as well, with some touch ups from a dremel.
The most important part is that you make sure the hood latch assembly is bolted down to the bracket on top of the IC core or the hood will be flimsy.

^ lol I actually don't have a camera anymore
just wondering, what's that little black box with the arrow on it next to the hood latch? Is that for the airbag sensor or alarm maybe? Where did you guys relocate it? I'm wondering if I can just disconnect it from where it connects near the firewall (blue orange connector)...

Dam. Thats a hell of a intercooler setup.
I have one question though.... Why do you have to cut off that metal rebar thing? Why can't you just stick the intercooler piping through it??....

the metal rebar cross beam thing is actually in the way of where the intercooler sits, you have to take it off so it can mount flush
Turns out I have to get some IC pipes fabbed... work never stops. I'm going to go with 2.75" pipes so it can stay consistent with the elbow/ypipe outlets
But has anyone noticed how small the actual IC's outlet pipes are???? What's up with that? Are they like 2.25" or something?

Maybe post # 739
Could help you it looks to be the same type of IC design

thx for the link but that IC's outlet pipes are in a different position and they seem a lot bigger
The driver side IC pipe goes under almost right next to the hood latch and I believe they're both 2.25" which seems super small
