RX-7 TT vs. 300 ZX TT
Alright Fellas, I am trying to make my final decision on either the 300 or 13B, well decision already made......RX7 it is!!!!!!! I have done MAD research on the ups & downs of my "wife-to-be" so thats not a question....I just wanted to know, for ***** & grins, the advantages/disadvantages of the 300ZX TTurbo vs. RX7 TTurbo.......all inguiries welcome....BIG NAP

Rx7 can destroy a 300zxtt man, we have the lighter weight distrubution and on top of that wayyyyyyyy i mean wayyyyyyyyyy better handeling. Personally even in the looks department the rx7 looks ten times better than those 300zxtt. Good that you chose the rx7 man, even at 255horspower stock vs a 300horsepower 300zx, you can eat them, we have a whole entire racing package, and thats how we win

performance wise the RX-7 kills the 300ZX, but the 300 does have it's advantages ... larger cabin space and a back seat, more reliable, better gas mileage ... all things at witch a true performance cars lacks, just like the RX

The 300ZX weighs close to 700 lbs more than our cars do. That is like putting 4 fat girls in the back. One other problem with the 300 is that it does not hold up to mods well. The car can bearly take the 300+ horses it has stock. If you don't want an RX7, go with a Supra. It still has the weight problem like the 300, but it is a much better car.

I really enjoyed the 300zx. It was a very nice car. It's more of a touring car. It's larger and bulkier than the FD. I really loved the T-Tops, it was nice to pull those off on nice days. I'm not a fan of A/C, I love warm weather (which is why I got the Touring model of the FD to have the sunroof).
The 300zx will have more of the confort type options like heated side mirrors, climate control system, etc...
If you want a pure sports car, then the FD is what you are looking for.. The FD is much more nimble and easier to mod, but it's also more delicate. In the 3 years I owned the 300zx, I only replaced the brakes and the battery. You don't want to know what I've replaced on my FD in the 4 years I've owned it.
I have to be honest, sometimes I'm a little hesitant to take my FD out and run it hard for fear of something going wrong and having to put it back in the shop. This fear will go away as I learn more about the car and taking care of it myself. I never had that fear in my 300zx, but then again, I never had the same level of performance either.
If you are a DIY person and want a pure sports car, go with the FD. If you aren't a DIY person and want more reliability, go for the 300zx.
I know people will suggest the Supra, but I've never liked the looks of the Supra, and I hate sports cars that have back seats. If you want a 300zx, don't get a 2+2.

I think the 300ZX is more comparable to the 2nd generation rx7s, particularly the Turbo II. I mean the ZX is older than the 3rd gen, lacks the newer styling an dpower. Really not in same class as 7 and Supra. THe asking prices of teh 300ZX reflect this.

300zxs weight distribution is way off. my friend as a 92 300zx N/A and its pretty quick. but teh *** is so light that you're swinging out at every turn, so handling is really shitty. plus they dont look as cool as 7's

Anyway, I agree, the 3rd gen RX-7 is the sports car lovers dream!

There's an rx7 and a 300zx tt in my driveway right now actually.. and i can say that the rx7 could take the 300zx no problem.. the 300zx doesn't feel as sporty and nimble as the rx7, due to the weight and the torque.. it doesn't seem like you're going that fast.. when you drive the rx7, it's more of a race car.. its just a different feeling.. the 300zx is more of a touring car, like a supra, than a race car.. but it's purely what you want.. i'd pick the rx7 over the 300zx..

Give Stillen, JWT or the many other Nissan tuners out there a call and ask them how well the VG motor holds up. It hasn't been on the "10 Best Engines" list for numerous years for nothing.

I remember that one time with my 300lb buddy against that modded TTZ. Oh man no contest
I had considered buying a Z, but in the end, I knew I could get MUCH better handlnig out of the FD and the styling of the FD looked decades ahead.

First of all, when does a particular motor or car need to raced to be considered "good." Many models of cars and trucks on the roads today are never raced and are great vehicles. Secondly, if the 300ZXTT is such a slow pig of a car, why would the issue of which is better even be brought up?
http://www.stillen.com/team/history/history.html This should explain a little about how Nissan didn't "kick ***" with the 300ZXTT.

Here is another link that prooves just how inferior the Nissan car is (sarcasm). When viewing this, just remember that the 300Z and Maxima motor were both VG based, meaning they are essentially one in the same. Notice how they are one of the only two, six year winners...

Do I really need to post the wins for the 13B?
