The market for FDs in only 3 years will probably be the same as it is now. The only FDs that fetch a premium now and ever are pristine, stock/near stock, low mileage examples.
Let me guess - you're some high school candy *** looking to get your driver's license in 3 years and want to know whether you can afford it or not?

I think it will be higher as more are retired and the remaining ones become more rare. I also believe that potential buyers are learning more and understanding more about the reliability issues that have scared people off in the past, and that'll help them sort through it, and not overpay, and then maintain a reliable FD, and then prices start to come up across the board. I think this will take 5 years, though.

I agree with some of you. If you have a car with low miles and pretty much stock then it will hold it's value and maybe even increase in value. On the other hand, if you buy one of those loud, unreliable cars out there not properly tuned then expect the value of the car to go down. Having said that, I have had two third gen RX7's and they are absolutely reliable. I keep reading people having all sorts of problems and stuff. Point being, If you buy a car, try looking for one with low miles, and pretty much stock and budget approx. 2K to reliable mods such as a new radiator, new AST, new downpipe, gauges and a new viton vacuum hoses along with complete water hose replacement. Hope this helps.

I cant imagine the prices being any more then 1-2 k less then they are now. I think these cars are pretty much right around their lowest market value price. The only way i see them losing value is with a substantial mileage increase, which actually doenst matter all that much since, most owners have to replace everything that breaks or wears down. I mean ****, my car has 90k miles on it, and its on its 4th motor. lol.

After college, invest your money into a nice place to live with a garage. Once you have a garage to house a nice car, then get something sporty.

I should clarify. The Fast and the Furious 3 by Universal Studios will be based on drifting in Japan. The Rx-7 is a popular drift car. Initial D is a cartoon/comic book series in which the main character drifts a 1984-1987 Toyota Corolla GTS. In turn, the popularity of this cartoon has boosted the prices of the car obscenely, with prices in the 4-6k for a silly Toyota Corolla.
Perhaps FF3 will do the same.

it will most likely include some undercover cop who has the hots for a girl that is a part of the illegal activity and grows a conscience and lets the bad guy get away somehow.... good lord those movies suck a$$ i feel ashamed to be recognized as that type of demographic... i remember when the first one came out.....

From Universal Pictures (http://www.universalpictures.com/)
From the makers of both runaway hits The Fast and the Furious and its sequel, 2 Fast 2 Furious, comes the new installment in the motion picture saga built on speed. In this adrenalized new story, set in the sexy, underground world of Japanese drift racing, the newest and fastest customized rides go head-to-head on some of the most perilous courses ever seen.
Shaun Boswell has always been an outsider. A loner at school, his only connection to the indifferent world around him is through illegal street racing, which has made him particularly unpopular with the local authorities. To avoid jail time, Shaun is sent out of the country to live with his uncle in the military, in a cramped apartment in a low-rent section of Tokyo.
Now officially gaijin, or outsider, Shaun feels even more shut out in a foreign land of strange customs and codes of honor. But it doesn't take him long to find the action when he and a new, American bud discover the underground world of drift racing, a deadly combination of brutal speed on a heart-stopping course of hairpin turns and switchbacks. In the land that gave birth to the most modified racers on the road, the simple street race has been replaced by the ultimate pedal-to-the-metal, gravity-defying automotive challenge... pushing the envelope of what's possible.
Sounds like a cinematic disaster..

god ::sighs:: this is going to put people who drift WAY down. and everyone is going to think they can do it and crash...maybe die. and then the police will say its a health hazard. and start taking people who drift to jail insted of giving us a warning for "squealing our tires". someone stop them from making this movie PLEASE!
