Rx-7 Oil Cooler

I need help!!! I have 93 rx-7 twin turbo, and I need a place where I can buy two oil cooloers for it. Should I go aftermarket or stock? Where can I buy them?

Much Appreciated...

Do a Search using CWR.

CWR makes a good aftermarket set.

I like everything about the Crooked Willow kit except the thermostat. There is just not enough room for it. Mine kept hitting the radiator fan so I trimed the tips. Also that is a lot of mass that is connected rigidly to the motor. The elbow that comes out of the engine broke on my car. I lost all the oil onto the freeway and the bottom of the car. I finally took the thermostat out. I block one of the cooler air intakes for daily driving and open it for the race track. The only time the temp gets too cold is extended down hill drives. So far no problems with it set up this way.

I mounted mine underneith my AC compressor. I had to bend my AC line a little but I have no probelms with clearance issues.

If you take aftermarket oil cooler, make sure it can fit for FMIC when you need FMIC.

If you want to go with used stock (which will be much cheaper than cwr or re) I have a driver's side oil cooler for sale......shoot me a PM at viperkillerfd3s@yahoo.com

I'm pretty sure a bud of mine has the pass side cooler also.......

I will have to take a look at that because I would rather have some type of active temp control eventhough the blocker works ok. Of course when we went to Laguna Seca I remembered I hadn't removed the blocker when I was staged to go out on the track. The ambulance wasn't there yet so I quickly jumpped out and removed it. Then on the way home about two miles down the road I realized I had forgotten to put it back in. It takes more time to put the seat belts back on than remove and replace this thing but its still a hastle.

Rotary Extreme 25 row Dual Cooler.
Very easy to mount, it comes with all the brackets you need.
I suppose you could do it without taking off the bumper, but I had so much fun taking it off anyway.

Will you be adding any ducting?

Wish you had pics of those brackets!

No ducting, I was looking at it, the only way for air to go around is around the top of cooler or thru the gap on the sides.
I think no ducting is needed, only sealing all around it to make sure the air goes thru it.
If the cooler were much smaller(stock size) then ducting would be more efficient.

how about a plastic piece to block air from going around it.

I don't think I need ducts, the cooler is almost 3 times bigger than the hole in bumper. Plus the cooler is right to the edge of bumper.

see...

Umm...are you going to be getting a different bumper with a larger intake duct for the oil cooler? Otherwise, it's a waste to have a 25-row oil cooler taking in airflow through only 30 percent of its surface area....

The other thing is I compete at SCCA auto-x, I don't think they allow bodywork.

Uhm, no. I don't think they care if you have a hideous ricer-fab bumper, wings and sideskirts. I shouldn't make a difference, because it isn't a *performance* item.
