Question Rx-7 Jdm 98

Hi
I'm gonna put jdm 98 13-brew twin turbo to my rx-7
Will it be faster than a usd 93 rx7
how fast?
and i'm gonna put downpipe ,pulleys, new clutch stage 3 and lightweight flywheel?
how many hp?
how fast 1/4 mile?
is light weight flywheel going to help me accelerate?

Depends on the model, not all were 280.

I was told that the JDM engine is the same as the USDM but the difference is the turbo.

Thanks. I was just checking on that as I had a feeling it was only after '99.

FD RX-7

series-6 = Dec 91 - Dec 95
series-7 = Jan 96 - Dec 98
series-8 = Jan 99 - Aug 02

Mechanically, the US spec series-6 was the same as the Jap spec series-6.

The series-7 JDM went from 255hp to 265hp thanks to an updated ECU & a little extra boost. The engine specs where identical for the series-6 & series-7.

Come the series-8 & thats when you are going to find the 280hp versions thanks to upgraded turbo's, better exhaust, better intake, better ECU & more boost.

There is NO point in putting in a jdm 13b into a US car for the cost. SEARCH!@#! ******* SEARCH!@#$! this question owns me. this is like, the best thread EVAR! how can you own a car and know so very little about it.

"how many hp?
how fast 1/4 mile?"
well, it wouldn't be much but those pullies are going to free up alot of HP, i'd say you're looking at 10's for sure if you have the right body kit.

Want 280hp? buy a chipped ecu, turn up boost to 11psi. done. didn't even have to put in a lightweight flywheel OR pullies.

It doesn't worth the money and the difference is not that much!!

I've got a 2000 Type R 280hp's and after i driven my cousins 94 FD i noticed a small difference after 5K rpm when the second turbo comes on, on my car you can feel more the kick and there is the difference. Not worth the money. With that money you can do the basic mods on your engine and you will be way more than 280hp.

If your RX-7 2nd turbo comes in at 5000rpm. Then you have problems.

The JC twin turbo opens the 2nd turbo at 3500rpm

The FD twin turbo opens the 2nd turbo at 4000rpm

I have a series-8 RX-7 like you. "Type-RS" version so it gets the 280hp engine. 2nd turbo cuts in at 4000rpm each & every time.

Gets yours checked................

In all honesty just rebuild your engine the way that you want. I personlly dont trust the remans or used jdm engine importers. I dont even think that there is much difference if any between the us and a 98 fd engine. I believe that the 280 hp started in 99 with the turbos. and even those are iffy. Good luck on getting a good set. About the light flywheel, it just helps your car rev up faster, but also remember that between switching gears your revs will drop much more than the stock.

Well said......

I dont trust them either and I have to deal with them.

Just the thought as SUPPOSEDLY (spell) the compression was all 8`s before he took it out of the car 2 years ago LOL! Yeah and im sure its all 8's now, well thats how they sell it as.

I strickly tell anyone investing in a USED engine over here, just be ready to have it overhauled....
