rubber hose connecting air pipe to air pump

the rubber hose that connects the air pipe to the air pump wont connect back properly .. is there a trick to getting this hose back on without having to take the air pump off?

IME it helps a lot to have the air pump off and guide that hose on first when putting the pump in. Maybe you can wrestle it on there w/o removing the pump, but it won't be easy.

It's definitely possible, I've done it several times. The message is "be brutal." The pipe is pretty tough, just bend the sh**t out of it. It WILL go on.
