Rotary liftoff minus 16 days..
Okay okay, so now that I have everyone's attention. I'm extremely happy about recieving my mazda rx-7 in 16 days. My father has finally decided I'm old enough/responsible enough to drive the car as my own. That or he is having a mid-life crisis. Both are possible. Well the car has recieved alot of work on it not because of accident but more age and mileage.
He has asked me to look into taking some stunt/race/defensive/preventitive driving classes. Since my car before was just a lil' old 96' 626. Basically he wants to make sure I know the power of the car and how to handle bad situations should they occur, (knock on wood.) So i wondered if anyone had any ideas or basic type suggestions for a first-time RX-7 driver in FL. Like stay out of st. lucie county (while driving the Turnpike)or do the speed limit, there's my advice.
get ahold of me however you choose. thanks in advance!

Yea soon it will be Orlando/San Francisco. Just waiting for the parents to move already.
For reliability mods I was thinking of going to Petit Racing in Ft.Lauderdale area, anyone else know some excellent 3rd gen places to go for repairs, upgrades and such.

first of all congrats ! getting a stock FD or modded ?
defensive driving course is a good idea. i'd also say a road race course like skip barber... i learned from doing stupid things. oh well it turned out for the best. i have NEVER spun my FD.... got it side to side but never spun
an important lesson i learned for a new FD driver is NO DRIFTING. when you go through a turn go slow. you can go very fast through a turn in a stock FD but you can also go WAY too fast into a turn and lose control. good luck with the car. you have pettit racing to work on the car. which is good

Well congrats. Another college chick all the way on the side of the US that has an FD. Take good care of her and take even better care of yourself . Those driving classes sound supurb! Alot of drivers don't even consider that right off the bat so I can tell just how responsible and understanding of a person you are when it comes to your safety and the safety of others. As for reaching you, I prefer by phone # . Bah, I'm JK. Have a good one and be safe!

All those classes are so expensive. I would rather mod the car than spend the money on something I might already know or I could pick up at the track on my own.

Petit Racing is no longer in Ft. Lauderdale, they moved up to West Palm. Not to talk sh*t but Cam is a bit pricey. I go to Japtix Racing....also in West Palm.

I will never do business with Petit again. Got burned in `97 by them and never forgot it. Since then, I've found several others with less than favorable experiences with the business. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else.
