Plenty of R12 on eBay. Technically you have to fax the seller your EPA licence before you buy it but few sellers really require this. (This license is easy to get - you just have to do a short online exam.)

You can also buy used discharging machines for $100-$200, which is not a lot when you consider the cost of the V mount (and you can sell it again when you are finished with it).

R-12 is really not that pricey. I've had a local shop pull my system to a vacuum, do a full charge of R-12, good to go for $120. That's a STEAL.

Yes, I cut/bent/rewelded the ac lines which required discharging and recharging the ac system. Fortunately, my uncle owns a garage and he was able to recycle my r12. Sorry that I am not able to help you much further, but the options above are available as well.

If you are interested, I did a write up on nopistons for installing an inline powersteering cooler. The inline cooler cleans up the under side of the car a lot and gives more clearance since that loop is no longer hanging down.

An excellent idea! I wish I knew this before I put the undertray on . Bending and securing the powersteering lines were not only difficult but a flaw in the design. Don't get me wrong. The v-mount is a great product but I wish the setup didn't sit so low on a car that barely clears the pavement as it is. Chuck should include this as part of the kit. Thanks for the advice!

you're actually wrong. r-12 is better for a system designed for r-12. But as an overall refridgerant r-134 is better. A system designed for r-134 is not only more efficient but it is capable of producing lower temperatures and higher efficiency than r-12.

refridgeration in general is jsut a scam by G.E.

Here's the link for AgentSpeed's write-up:

http://www.nopistons.com/forums/inde...0steering&st=0

Thanks for the comments everyone. I would've have gone monster had I known I would be single turbo now. I ended up repositioning the IC inlet so it would point towards the turbine compressor outlet. It works fine and gives me enough room to place a K&N filter directly in the airflow path.

Rims are 17x8.5, 17x10.

Your original setup looked very clean. The single setup is pretty sick, just doesn't flow as well as before...Nice work though. If anyone needs pictures of the V-mount install I have plenty. BTW I love those wheels on your car

it seems to be a pretty touchy issue and i don't know how readilly those pictures are available because people like Chuck at rotary extreme don't want people to be able to easilly make their own by stealing the design (and rightfully so).

hehe, i would be greatly interested in seeing those pictures too, but i'd rather give them their privacy and figure it out by myself.

That is crazy, I can’t see how he would have rights to any pictures anyone would take of the intercooler setup after it has been purchased. If someone wanted to “steal” his idea, all they would have to do is buy a kit and reverse engineer it (perfectly legal and happens all the time). Oh but I guess then he wouldn’t be able to charge insane amounts of money for it. Hmmm just found another reason I will never buy this intercooler. Or maybe I will, just to reverse engineer it and offer my own kit. J

Chuck doesn't have any "rights" about his products -- he has requested that customers not post pictures of the brackets and things and I can respect that.

Your sentiment has been expressed a long time ago, and it sounds just as stupid now. Is Chuck not allowed to make a SMALL profit on his products? Are YOU going to reverse engineer these kits and sell them at NO profit? Are you going to offer great customer service with your kits? Chuck came over to my house on a fricking Saturday afternoon when I had a few issues with the oil cooler kit install (along with Reza, thanks again guys!). Are YOU going to do that?

First of all, I have never commented on the v-mount before.

You just proved my point of why I think it is stupid that no one can show pictures of how the radiator mounts. If someone wanted to rip off his design, it really wouldn’t be that hard. The point is that others and I aren’t going to steal his design, but I was just interested in how everything mounts. I think it is very innovative but like stated above, not the only one on the market.

BTW-Who are you? Have I ever had dealings with you before? Just curious?

My statement wasn't about a previous post by you, but by others on this very same topic. I also disagree -- if people post pictures, then members WILL steal the design and make their own, rather than buying it from Chuck. Also, Chuck's kit IS the only v-mount on the US market -- the "JDM" kits are not marketed or officially sold here.

I don't believe I've had any dealings with you before, unless we've argued over some other point previously on the forum....and I'm just your everyday opinionated FD owner....
