Road Dyno In Car dynamometer
Hey guys, I found this Website from Europe that has in car device capable of measuring horsepower and torque with great accuracy.
http://www.dynoplus.co.uk/
I think its a great tool in conjunction with Power FC tuning.
This guy did a test on his car. The result is pretty consistent. The dyno graph comparison with actual dynometer is very close.

There are many many products like this already out there. http://www.maxqdata.com/ For example.
The thing that makes dynos so great for tuning is:
* Safety - You can do full 3rd and 4th gear pulls without endangering anyone on the road or risking a very serious ticket
* Loading - Good dynos can load up the dyno and make it take longer for your car to rev through the range. This gets you more data points and helps you pinpoint your map changes.
* Consistency - No "road conditions" to mess with your output numbers. You know exactly what that last settings did and get a clean comparison between them.
In terms of power bragging, sure its almost as good, but in terms of tuning tool, its false short.

There is something called "pocket dyno" for the Itouch and Iphone - I've got it loaded on mine but haven't tried it yet. Just got my car dynoed so it will be interesting to see how accurate it is...

Road and Track just did a comparison on something like this. They didnt test a Dyno app, but they did test a performance meter app on the i phone against other "real" testing equiptment. Turned out that the I phone was pretty damn accurate. Pretty close to being on par with factory installed G and performance meters. Crazy what you can do with a cell phone now days.
