Richness related to non sequential switch

Im lookin at buyin this 93' rx7... Ive never had a 7 before but i feel ive doen alot of homework reading here and that im worthy of 7 ownership, but I dont want to dissipoint the car or myself so im gonna ask some questions...

ITs got a rebuild on it with 2k
No rats nest, and a non sequential swap
Intake
Exhaust
stock ecu in "limp mode" (not really sure what that entails)
WG line pill for 7lbs

its obvious the car is running rich, he says it gets about 12mpg in the city and the exhaust is black soot, ect.. Car runs alright, Idles fine just sittin there, boost sits at 7lbs when you get on it. Can shut it off, let it sit for a minute, and it cranks right back up easily. Im just wondering if this is in any way hurting the car to run it like this, and how difficult it would be to fix (with like a PowerFC or something)

I know someone who has a PowerFC for sale, but its got a single turbo 1600cc injector map on it. How hard is it to reprogram these, load a map on it for just non sequential setup with stock turbos, intake, and exhaust?

Cars got 55k on chassis
93 r1, VR

anthing I didnt add, say somethin. Tryin to do as much research as I possibly can before I even get in the drivers seat of one of these beautiful machines.

Im sure im prepared to take some flak if you guys think im dumb, but its been a dream of mine to get one for awhile and i definately dont want to dissipoint myself. Any tips on what i should do as far as your opinions on reliability or care are appreceiated. ITs already got an AST and a fuel pump, so I was just gonna drive it like it is for awhile and just change the oil every 2k and keep my eye on all the other fluids. Hopefully i can get a gauge pod and a EGT and water temp gauge in the mean time.

Thanks!

well to my knowelege i think its in limp mode because the engine needs break in time, and usually they reduce the boost so you dont put too much strain on the engine...and im not sure the stock boost is 10...not sure, but he may have reduced it for that purpose and the black soot im not to sure about that...could be that its running rich...but i wouldnt keep goin on it hard like that, you may cause more problems....drive around in ur 7 for a few thousand miles...mayb until 6 or 7k on rebuild and have it tuned back up to stock setting...i had a rebuild i went through a similar process....but thats my take on it, hope i at least provided some insight.

If it's running that poorly, something is wrong. It's that simple. Stock boost is 10psi as well.

I would hope the guy is giving a good deal on the car if it's not running properly. Unless you're an experienced mechanic, that could take some doing to sort out. Factor in the cost to have a rotary shop go over it and get it in proper condition.

Simply going non-sequential shouldn't affect things, but I also question why the owner did all that with a stock ECU. With those mods, it's also quite possible the engine isn't healthy - a compression test would be a must with that setup before you buy. A blown engine can also produce the same effects!

Well its Allrotor93's old car, so he did all the work... Ill have to call and ask him about it today.. The car seems to be running fine, it cranked and ran great, drove fine, and the boost was planted on 7psi when you got in it..

So what exactly is limp mode with this car?? IS that just the ecu giving it more gas to make sure it isnt lean? Maybe giving it alittle less timing?

I have a decent amount of experience with piston motors, but this will be my first step into the world of rotary, so i got alot to learn...

Dale your thinkin that the brand new rebuild could be already going south after only 2k?
