at least those are somewhat tasteful, more of what I consider a "rear spoiler" as opposed to a "wing"

the gaudy "erector set" or "bleacher seat" wings you see on the ricers are highly annoying to me....I always make a special effort to blow their doors off at every opportunity so they can be put right down in their place....if you are going to drive around on the street with a big *** wing announcing to the world your car is something special, you BETTER have the performance to back it up....as in at least 500 hp

Agreed, even the EVO and STI I consider their wings to be to big for no reason. Everytime I see an accord or civic with it, I laugh. Yet certain cars look good, I like extremely low spoilers on the FD, I saw the 99spec in person and even that was a tad high for my taste, the stock one I think looks very clean.

it's not that simple....the factories are always playing around with aerodynamics and downforce....Schumacher ran wingless in 2003 fyi and there are several wingless Ferraris and Porsches....for an all out track car that is capable of 170-200+ it's a serious issue, for a street car it's essentially a non issue and I have to laugh when I see the ricers, or really ANYONE for that matter, with a wing on a street car
sweet
this is off topic now so i wont discuss this anymore but...though..you did miss my point..or maybe I missed yours..

I dont know what post of mine your responding to due to the fact the above has no correlation to what I first quoted you on.
(see below)

"interesting that properly designed cars (e.g. Ferrari Enzo) don't need a wing for downforce...it's the band aid approach"

Simply stated: Their are many properly designed cars that gain great advantages from thier rear wing...

Am I wrong?? were not discussing track cars or F1 cars..just the fact from your post "that properly designed cars" dont need rear wings...
