Replacing 550 primaries with 850 secondaries?

I just spoke to Ralph at Ground Zero in Portland and he told me that I should replace my primary 550 injectors with the secondary 850's and send in the 550's to RC Engineering to have them turned into 1300's.Has anyone done this? What needs to be done to the primary rail to acomidate the 850's?

from my personal experience stay away from changing the flow rate of your injectors. It's best to just buy new 1300s. In my ej25t days i had 550ccs reflowed to 850cc... flowtested them and they came out all with different numbers within 70 ccs apart.

Ive had my secondaries reflowed to 1300cc for two years with no probs so far. I dont think the secondaries will fit into the stock primary rail. Not sure, but you may need a new rail for that. Also check out http://www.rceng.com (RC Engineering) theyve been doing injectors for about 30 yrs. Both of my secondarys were flow tested to be within 1cc of each other

They don't make 1300cc side-feed injectors. Hundreds of FD owners have run 1300cc injectors, virtually all with no problems.

You can't bore out 550s to 1300s. You have RC bore out the 850s to 1300s. Please start using the search function. There are many good threads on what is required to run 850cc in the primary slots.

to run the 850's in the stock primary rail you must shave it 1/8 of an inch... theres a lot of info about this.

I am just telling you what Ralph at Ground Zero told me and from what people have said on here he knows his stuff, and he told me to send the 550's to RC Engineering to have them bored out to 1300's.And I did use the search and there was nothing on this particular topic.

Rynberg is correct, you'll want to have some stock 850cc side feed secondaries bored out to 1300cc by RC Engineering.

I have been running 1300cc secondaries and 850cc primaries (stock secondaries) for years now with no problems at all. Stock rails, stock regulator.

You can take sugestions but use your own mind.

550's can be bore to 750's.
850's can be bore to 1300's.
850's in primary rail requires fitment modification to the rail.
1300's require new 850's as RC-Eng recomends.
More fuel requires a larger fuel pump.
OEM ECU will not run the bigger injectors properly.

Maybe Ralph was having an off day, but that is what he told me, I had to ask twice because I have never heard of 550's being bored out to 1300's.He must have meant 850's.Should I send him my used 850's or buy new ones?I thought keeping the stock 550's and using 1300's in the secondary was the way to go.I will be using the Power FC as well. How much does RC charge to bore out the 850's to 1300's?

READ the above 850 CC bored to 1300 is correct ,550cc will not bore to 1300 cc. Get stock 850 cc and have them cleaned . I can mod the pri rail as do many others ( cost $ 5 plus shipping ).For the best results go with big injectors and a custom sec rail . I have some 1200 cc ones from RC Eng and they worked fine .I am now running 850cc and 1680 cc on the street with easy starts and a smooth idle .
