Removed Airpump - Cure for Lumpy Idle?
All right, I removed my airpump, slapped a 31" 5-rib belt onto my Greddy pulleys, and the engine "hunts" at idle like everyone said it would. The car feels fine driving (a little smoother) and the idle is perfect if the A/C is on - probably because of the increased engine load which requires a higher idle speed. If the electrical load is high (i.e. stereo, keep foot on brake pedal, etc.) the idle isn't too bad either. I like not having the airpump and want to know if there is a cure for the crappy idle. Can you do something to the air control valve? I want a smooth idle and still want to look at my turbos.

The air pump is also used for secondary air injection at idle or low rpms. Removing it will cause what your encountering as well as fouled plugs and poor low end. Either tune it for no air pump or replace it. No real "fix" unless you just want to turn up the Idle air control screw but thats half assed.

Did you cap of all the hoses and everything real tight? Mine idles great, all i did was take out the pump, change the belt, cap the 2 metal pipes real good.
I do have the Power FC thought so that might make a difference
