Reliability of a ported motor

In the next 6 months I will be getting an FD (the right one hasn't come my way yet). When I do so I want to get a new (reman?) at KDR and get the engine ported. Has anyone had thier ported engine blow up on them (even with all of the reliabillity and performance mods)?

thanks.

Just get the stuff that will help you monitor and support that port job (bigger fuel pump/injectors, new ECU) and you should be fine dear sir.

The problem with ported motors is that you tend to want to run your car harder. Hey you got this great performing car so you tend to get on it more. So lots of times it is not the motor but the power the motor gives that makes it unreliablel. hahahaha

Hey dood. I read on OVB about a little info on you from Nisei Week. Is it true you are an extra in Bubble Boy in the Strip Bar scene?

i hope you dont mind waiting awhile....KD Rotary is backed up all the way to october and that was a couple weeks ago. i'm sure its worth the wait though. i thought that when you had ur motor "ported" all they did was machine the coolant ports so the motor would run cooler? obviously that would produce more hp but when i hear the term "ported motor" i think of bored out blah blah blah. you know, more room for more air/fuel mix. i really have no idea.

Thanks for the replys so far. I will not mind the wait at KDR - cause I don't have all the cash at the moment, but still want to do everthing all at once.

So who has had thier ported motor blow on them?
