reconstructed fd value ???
I've had some pretty bad luck with my particular fd, as i bought it already rebuilt with an out of state salvage title. (for the love of god stay away from these cars!!) it took me about 7 months to get the reconstructed pa title, which came in a couple months ago.
Unfortunately, after i had received my title and tags, some minor frame/unibody damage was found behind the front driver side wheel. The ******* who sold me the car didnt fix the frame, got it aligned as close as possible before he sold it to me, and disappeared.
obviously the damage is minor, as it passed the title inspection, and a full check over by dave at KDR before it was noticed the 2nd time i had it up there. the estimate i got is around 700 bucks.
My question is, what do you think the value of this car would be if i was to sell it after it was fixed? the one positive thing that came out of this purchase was that the engine is not the original one, with PERFECT compression, i mean perfect, but i dont have any receipts. here it is..
94 silver touring 5sp
100k on body
hks dp
rb catback
front sway bar
pulley set
defi vsd boost and timer
any insight would be helpful- thanks a lot fellas

i know a guy who has a salvage/rebuilt '94 FD, near 80k miles and the insurance company valued it at 17,000. the damage was just cosmetic front end tho'.
i would not pay this much for a salvage/rebuilt. if you fix yours and its perfect, i think its possible to get 15k or so

I bought mine salvaged. and rebuilt it myself. The frame machine I used is so acurate, you can buy a new car from the dealer take it over there and it shows the frame as off. The factory tolerances are looser than teh frame machines.
I rebuilt mine REPLACING all the bent parts with new metal from teh dealer asside from one small kink in the frame that was streightened on the machine.
couple my meticulous rebuild with the condition the prior owner kept the car in, put my car side by side with any other 93 with similar miles, and you'll likely pay more for mine in a heart beat.
What Im saying here is on a car this old teh fact that it was rebuilt has nothing to do with what one is likely willing to pay you for it. it's the overall condition and maintenance that matters.

It is all in how well the car was fixed. Usually salvage cars are hacked together so someone can turn a big profit.
Other times the car really was only totalled because of parts cost. Engine burn cars are a good example. If you have even the smallest fire under the intake manifold it can total the car.

Let me state the obvious. If I'm buying a car and no matter how wondeful or lousy it is, If it has the word "SALVAGE" (or something similar) on the title, _MY_ estimate of it's value will drop 10% to 30% compared to a car without a salvage title. I don't care how much work has been done. I don't care how great the rep of the people who did the work.
It'll have to be a good deal or I'll just wait for a non-salvage on to come along.
