Recommendations for Silicone Vac Hose
Anyone have a favorite place to purchase silicone vac. tubing? I'll be getting 4mm and 6mm for re-plumbing the rat's nest...just basic black. I find many vendor's on the net, but am looking for the best quality, looking for guidance on where to purchase from those who have been there already.
Thanks,
Thanks,

VITON tubing....$$$...aiyeeee! Next you guys will tell me to only use KRYTOX grease $$$!
Silicone probably isn't a good idea with all the volatiles and heat these beasts generate come to think about it...VITON would be pretty much be a one time fix...just from the stand point of cost (joke).
Thanks, I'll nix the silicone and work some overtime this week to save up for the VITON.

The difference in price between a full Viton and silicone job is probably $60. Pretty much noise when it comes to FD maintenance. And it is far easier to work with than silicone, which you may learn to appreciate when you trying to avoid breaking solenoid barbs.

I redid my lines with the silicon ones from hose techniques, but if you got the money go for the viton. Also pick up Dale Clark viton check valves too.

But I want something that I can guarantee won't degrade with oil vapor and temperature.
Silicon will degrade with oil and temp.
viton will not. (at least not in a measurable sense compared to viton)

Personally...had I not gone with Viton...I would have gone back to plain old stock hoses. They lasted pretty well for 13 years or so....that's not bad!
I know a LOT of people including some very skilled, successful professionals on this board have gone with silicone and have had great results but I just don't like the stuff. From my R/C days I remember some of the problems associated with it like swelling up and worst of all...splitting.

moconnor...I hate to tell you...but the right size of 4 and 6 mm VITON tubing at 30' and 10' respectively from M&C runs $414.30.
The HT kit is $144.85....Haven't tallied up a Baker price yet.
Anything VITON is pricey stuff. I have used VITON seals in a couple motorcycle engines I rebuilt and they were 3 to 5 times more expensive than a standard Bunda seal. As much as I like VITON...at that price I'll have to ponder it a while.

Viton would be preferred. No doubt. But IIRC when I bought my Hosetechniques kit a few years back, they were about $90. Not sure, but I'm thinking the price for the viton from HTS was about 3 times that and you had to be in on the GB to get it.
HT's silicone kit will likely last as long as the rest of my car. And if I need to replace a line or two, it came with plenty of extra of all sizes.
And OK, I admit it....I like the look of the red in the engine bay.

Anyone got any experience with this outfit?

I wish they had the 6 mm stuff in the 3.2 mm wall thickness. Their standard thickness is 2.5 mm.
And that HT stuff, what is the wall thickness? I could not find anything on their site that states what it is.

I paid about $200 for my Viton hose from HTS if I recall, so I guess the difference is closer to $100 rather than $60.
Also, 30' and 10' is way overkill - you could do two cars with that amount. There are several feet of long hoses (the hoses to the BOVs for example) that are not under the UIM and don't really need to be upgraded.
If you place any value on your time, that $100 or so will be easily recouped due to how easy Viton is to work with. There are lots of barbs under the UIM - and some of them are plastic.

It was just under $300 when I bought my kit...but, worth it in my opinion.
Thanks for the link on the hose materials...that is a good one.
