Really Simple Tech Question....
Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knows what that inverted (upside down) screw with the spring on it is...? It seems to adjust some sort of plunger type of valve... Its located directly above the oil filter on the throttle body. Of course on the driver side . I can see a coolant line that runs into it so I'm guessing it has to do with coolant flow...but not sure. Is this screw adjustable at all..? Or does it effect the performance of my 3rd Gen if its been tampered with...? Because I accidently adjusted it ...thinking it was the idel adjustment.....give me a break it was when I first got the car and didn't know any better. Basically what is its function and how do u adjust it ..? ....if u can that is. I'm worried about it hindering the cars performance. I would greatly appreciate any info anyone might have...Thanx Tony

I think that is the adjustment screw for the actuator on the double throttle (which prevents using too much throttle (causing a surge) and damaging the engine prior to completely warming up)...I think that is the theory anyway. I have heard of many people removing this.
Not too sure how to adjust it. Now I'm interested though...I'll see if the manual has anything.

mmaragos,
You're in Raleigh too? Do you drive an FC, or FD, the only FD I ever see in this town other than mine is a montego blue one I see on Avent Ferry every once in awhile in the mornings...

RotaryMan,
Sorry dude...that is why I need a manual. That is the Fast Idle Cam.
The adjustment screw that you were turning adjusts the idle cam opening temperature.
If you have the manual page F-79, if not, I can scan and post for you. (Tough to explain the setpoints without the manual, but it looks like it will let you adjust from -4°F to 140°F) Looks like screwing it out lowers the temp at which the idle cam opens and screwing it in raises it.
