rb26dett in rx7

The question is will it fit?? I dont know about the demensions with the rb26 but im pretty sure its long as crap and similar to the 2jz.. In SS they just had a supra with a rb26 swap and that thing looked very nice. But i dont think the 7 has the room and then there is the extra weight of the RB. Like i said though i dont know the exact specs of the rb26 so i dont know.

Forget the fact that it is a rotary, just remember the dimensions of the motor and how it sits.. the big advantage to the rotary is that it can be situated behind the front axle. Tossing in a long I-6 motor will throw off the balance of the car with nothing else changed. Check out the Supra7 that SP Engineering did, 2JZ in an FD.. pretty original and insane! I was at their shop two weeks ago and saw this thing in person, amazing that they got it to fit in the first place.. and when the thing is putting down 700+ rwhp on the dyno you can imagine what a ride in that would be like.. sliding all over the place. The nissan motor is an excellent one as well, not quite as bullet proof as the 2JZ IMO and much more difficult to get parts for in the states.

I've seen an RB26 in an FC and the hood on the car is so ugly because it has to account for the I-6 ... and the FC has more hood clearance than the FD does. It would be an abomindation superficially, nevermind putting a straight-line motor in a chasis made to own turns.
