Rare find. 25th anniversary edition R1
Hi guys, found another R1 I am looking at. 25th Anniversary edition. Canada only. It's basically a R1 with cruise and 25th anniversary mats. Only 300 or so imported.
It's got 63k miles. Original engine and transmission.
It's got the following mods.
Koyo performance rad
Toyota Supra TT fuel pump
M2 3" downpipe
3" mid with high flow cat
Greddy Power Extreme catback
Pettit ECU
Pettit AST
Greddy Profec B spec 1 boost controller
Boost and temp gauge on pillar
Blaupunkt CD player
HandR sport springs
Simmons 3pc. 17" *8*9 wheels
all vacuum lines including under intake manifold zip tied
PC680 lightweight battery
RX7store updated signal lights
Covercraft car cover
Service manual
Engine makes good power, 270 at the wheels with 10-8-10 boost pattern
all modifications done with reliability in mind, never over heated or over boosted.
Owner is asking 19.4k USD
Sound like a good deal for a rare car?

Seems very high for a car with those miles (should have well under 30k miles for that price). I would not get caught up on the 25th Anniversary thing - almost nobody has heard of it. It is not exactly a Spirit R.

The reason I am thinking about it is because I have checked out various FDs and they are all thrashed....really hard to find one in Canada.
Also, bringing it from the states is a hassle with taxes 15%, duties 7%, paperwork and bumper conversion (~1500) and exchange rate.....

I'm sure you know better, but check to see if there really is something called a 25th anniversary edition R1 (unless you already know there is). I've heard ppl selling FD's call 'em all sorts of things, even special edition R1 touring, etc. 95 CYM, lol you name it. I haven't heard of this 25th anniversary thing before, and most ppl on here prob haven't either, since most of us are in the US. Also, isn't the R1 quite diff in Canada? Diff options/package?

92 was the 25th anniversary year, I only know that because I found this sweet ebay auction last night.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...MEWA%3AIT&rd=1
I think you should get it and that car. Have a matching 25th anniversary set.

pd_day,
I'm telling you get the car!! You've seen how difficult it is to find FD's around here...
As for the rest of you, Mazda created R1's and R2's only for the North American market. Canada never got the chance to get R1's. However, to celebrate Mazda's "birthday" in Canada, they created a few models that were 25th Anniversary.
Here are some pics...
Basically it was an R1. Only choice in colour was black. Otherwise it was exactly the same as the US R1's...
You learn something new everyday!
Lates,
P.S. pd_day go get that car!!!

Hey man let me help. I have a 25th anniverssary R1. It goes like you said the car come with cruise and stickers and special mats. They exist only in Canada. It's an R1 with cruise. Not offered in the states. This car is well documented on the forum, It was offered for sale in December ( I think) If it makes you feel any better I paid $20k for a bone stock R1 with 94K on it last summer. Hope this helps.
