Cool RAndom Tech.'s new metal brick cats

I put a Random Technology cat in my M2 SS downpipe. (Well... a really good fabricator put it in). I found NO difference in my 0-60 times running at the same temp W/ a full tank of 93 octane on the same road.
i.e. the cat, which was 3" in and 3" out W/ a 4" middle diameter, did not affect my times on my G- Tech accelerometer.
Pretty damn good achievement for Random Technology.
When I moved to 'Vegas this July the car passed N-DOT the emissions test at a much higher level (read lower NOX, etc.) than required of the stock vehicle. This was W/ a Pettit high flow cat & 3" s.s. cat-back system.

Interesting. What made you go to the trouble to have it welded in the dp?

If it's all matel, then I would be more tolerate to heat....more than 10 K.

It sounds it flows really well. How bout some more dyno results?

Besides, it's not actually the heat that causes failures in our cars, it's the immense amount of crap that it removes from the exhaust, especially w/o the air pump....right?

Why the small cat in my downpipe.

Because I was afraid of failing a PA visual inspection W/O a pre cat.

The Random Tech. metal brick unit was due to Random Tech.'s advice that it would flow better than their standard ceramic brick cats and that it was far more heat tolerant (to heat/cool cycles). And because I once taught high school environmental studies and wanted to do a teeny bit to ease my conscience whilst driving this thirsty little devil.

Price of the Random Tech. pre-cat

I think I paid $250. direct from them. Not a cheap date but a necessary one. I actually called several garages in 'Vegas before I moved from PA and they too said I'd need a pre-cat to get my car inspected for 'Vegas registration. Turns out they were right. All cars coming from out-of-state need to pass a visual inspection.
