Quick Vacuum line question

Quick Vacuum line question
On the "G" solenoid when I went into this project, the hose came from benind it and came up, but just had the cap that's on some of the other solenoids on the other end. The hose was just a few inches long. I just put the cap at the end of the solenoid instead of putting a hose on it. Would that make a difference?
Edit: help if I left the diagram to look at

You mean the little filter? I think Mazda did that just for an interferance problem - with the filter on the solenoid, it could hit something. At least if it's what I'm thinking of

Take a look at this diagram:
http://www.scuderiaciriani.com/rx7/v...ressurized.gif
It will make it a little more clear for you (there is a check valve there for Automatic FD's... manuals do not have the check valve so you can block it off anywhere on the back of the solenoid).
