Quick question about V mount Setups

So im about to start my V mount setup i had one quick question. I pulled all the **** outa my engine bay but i cant figure out what to do with the fuse box thats near the hood latch. I seen all the v mount setup pictures and they always dont have the fuse box in them. Heres a picture of the fuse box i am talking about. just wondering what most people do with it.

Depends on what you're planning to do and how far you're planning to go. Most people flip it up underneath and tie it up in there, others relocate it entirely. I would say if you do flip it be sure it is sealed well water inside there is a no no.

I flipped mine over and zip tied it to the body a few years ago when we got my v-mount done. I've been meaning to relocate it but I totally forgot about about it.

By flip it do you guys mean to relocate it like in this mock up picture ? to where it sits in between the intercooler and radiator ? or tuck it somewhere in the radiator support itself ?

usually they're flipped over with the front cover going from horizontal to vertical, facing the cabin of the car. Some of the vmount kits include a bracket for it.

You can just flip it over, or with a little manipulation of the harness I was able to tie mine up just under in the correct orientation. I would like to relocate it, but personally I am happy with it where it is and see no need to go cutting wires.

Hey guys, while we are on topic for V mount setups, how does the orientation of the radiator hoses change ? obvisouly because the radiator is filpped around the inlet and outlet positions are swapped, how are the pipes routed ? do then inlet and outlets have to go back to their respective locations ? or can they be swapped around ? if they cant be swapped around it would be a long journey around the engine bay ?

I flipped mine and cable tied it, but it started killing relays really quickly TNS was usually the first casualty.

So I rewired, relocated to the inner wing, and replaced with good high grade auto relays in proper holders. Now it's clean and tidy, and the relays are pennies to replace rather than silly money.

This is usually due to water getting in there was there corrosion? I've opened boxes up and literally stuff was rotted away.

I just drilled a few holes in the relay box cover and didn't have any water problems after that, but it would hold water before.

There is actually a "slot" on the driver's side of the car where the box fits perfectly and snug. It also provides easy access if you need to check/change a relay. The car has seen regular track days at Sebring and has had zero issues with having the box in this location w/o being tied down.

I feel like this is hijacking the thread since it doesn't pertain to what the OP was asking about and it probably belongs in another thread regarding v-mount setups (there are tons), but a quick answer is that there are many different ways of doing it. IMHO, the best/cleanest way of doing it is to use a radiator that is made for a v-mount setup, that way the inlet and the outlet are both on the same side, closest to the engine, it would have to be a dual pass design for this to work. For mine, I made a blueprint and had Ron Davis custom make it along with custom aluminum shrouding and Spal high perf fans. Yes, it was expensive. Pics of my radiator can be found in the following thread: https://www.rx7club.com/3rd-generation-specific-1993-2002-16/my-new-custom-v-mount-intercooler-862551/

There is a cheaper option that looks very good that I recently found, it's only $249 which sounds very reasonable to me. It has all of the mounting tabs for the stock fans too. If this were available when I was designing my v-mount, I probably would've started with this. http://www.rotary-works.com/mm5/merc...gory_Code=RADI

^^Agree, just search and you will find the answer to this. Several threads even have pics of how hoses are routed. If you are going to do it, do it correctly and either purchase a rad made for vmounts or make your own.

Pacman, that is a cool find! That would have saved me a lot of time of planning and hacking up my koyo.

Appologies for the thread revival, but won't this position require the wires to be extended considerably?

Mine was flipped for a while. After killing a bunch of relays, I finally tucked it inside the rebar. Will have to pull the bumper in order to change relays....but hopefully I won't be frying them anymore from water.

yes, extending the wires is required.
