Put down 337 to the ground!

BTW,
It was Peter Farrell who tuned my old purple box when I was in Va. and he adamantly told me not to run the 14 psi setting other than the occasional punch in 4th gear or at the drag strip. Not to leave it on that setting, not to road race it at the track or anything else. If he doesn't feel confident about the fuel system past the 360 flywheel mark on a daily basis, then we shouldn't be passing along other info if that info goes against people more knowledgable than us or against math formulas that show that in doing so, your taking a big risk. Brian at M2 in his stage 3 maps, doesn't go too much higher than 85% on his injector duty cycle which put it at around 360 to 370 FROM the FLYWHEEL, not to the wheels.

Tim, 1) Well lets see, we, about 6 of us, all run the aforementioned set up without a problem..One engine went at 115,000 or so due to a water jacket which went south, not fuel ..I took apart the motor and rebuilt it and now the car runs perfect. This computer was left on the hi setting (15 psi) and was never turned down...This car was run at tracks, down the interstate in 3 rd, 4th and even 5th....etc..Not one of us has ever had a problem. 2) The reason Brian only runs 12-13 psi is due to the quality of fuel available where he is at....He is also liable if there is a problem with fuel...I had a big discussion with him about this a while back....3) Very few people run thier cars as hard as the guys I hang out with..if we can't pop em it's pretty safe. BTW: I can't image Peter saying only accasionally boost it to 14 in 4th gear or the race track..If the fuel system is inadequate it might not show it in 1,2nd or 3rd but it will in 4th. This and the track would put the most demand on the fuel system. Modifying cars is never a real safe game. What works for one guy might not for another. I guess we could all just leave them stock and play it safe...

Rich,
You got my number...if you come up, give me a call. I was upset I didn't get to go to Chedder's last weekend. I need more friends that share my love of FD's. My regular friends don't understand.

Not that all cars should be left stock and play it safe, but to try and advise someone that it is safe is reckless IF that person thinks it is safe after being told that it is. Do you have an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator? If not, then its my informed opinion, having owning my FD since 94, going through 3 ecus and all the questions that goes with them....IE max boost, fuel, etc, that your pushin the edge rather close and with your car it might be okay, but not for someone else, so I'd keep the go ahead and do it its okay statements to yourself since I don't want someone to recklessly follow that advice and blow there engine within a month and blame the car's engine as being fragile.
Like I said, you can argue about whats safe since its not been an issue on your or your friends car, but it DOES goes against empirical formulas that determine the max horsepower from the engine/flywheel for a given fuel requirements for our engines. Sure you can lean it out a bit and get more hp like your doing, but its not safe.
