yeah sorry i haven't posted an update. i'm designed and ordered some custom fabricated internal mounting structures for the led rings & diffuser lenses. waiting on those parts to come any day now.

i'm hoping to have a set ready for DGRR. if the parts i ordered don't come by wed, i'm gonna finish mounting everything by hand as a prototype unit to bring to DGRR.

Sweet. I think you need a high profile tester car and one comes to mind

good idea! you'll see them on Rich's FD come friday...

i'm not bringing my own FD to DGRR because it's down in FL and i'm up here in NY. i'm too poor to fly down and drive up my own car, so i'm catching a ride with Rich.

maybe we can get some pics of them on your car too though david.

anyway, here's an update...

i was waiting on some mounting parts...but the guy making them for me ran into some trouble so i ended up making them myself.

i ordered some empty bulb sockets from superbrightleds.com so these lights are 100% plug and play just like the lights normally are (you can swap them out in like 1 minute...no wires to disconnect or weird **** to do. just unplug the "bulbs" from the harness sockets and you're good to go...)

anyway, here are a couple more pics. i'm making the turn signals now, and then i'm gonna put everything back together.

lights off:

parking lights on (outer ring only):

parking lights + brake lights (outer ring + center):

also...TEASER VID! (uploading now):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JEmf9lLAJ0I

ok so i filmed it with my iphone so the vid is hard to tell what's going on. anyway, first you see the outer rings light up, but the video makes it look liek they fade in or something - this is just the camera effect. in real life, the lights are instantaneous - the rings glow full and even the instant you apply power. after that i disconnect the power and try to connect power to the center only (brakes) and then i try to connect power to the outer ring + center (parking + brakes). it gets a little crazy because i was doing it blind while trying to film, but you get the idea.

cheers!

haha like i said, in real life they look awesome. it's hard to record a light turning on or off without the camera freaking out. i can't do manual exposure on my iphone...

also the color is off in the video...but you get the idea.

just shot another vid with the tail signal....

Looks great, really like how you diffused the light with the transparent circle.

Question though, when will you use the LED ring on the turn signal? If you are only going to be running the two red circles as the parking lights (like stock) then how will you use the two different parts of the turn signal (LED ring & center light)

I really like the way these are turning out. I think they are a nice modern update to the car. Look forward to seeing them at DGRRX.

they're done!

ok so i had a LITTLE bit of trouble on the driver's side turn signal (didn't wait long enough for the paint to dry...) but i was able to fix it.

have you tested your lights in sunlight? your using 5mm led's behind a diffused lens and being red seems like it will be washed out.
